Software Engineer
Job Description
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated software developer with a passion for innovative technology. This role involves joining a multi-disciplinary team to develop and debug vision software programs. As a full-stack developer, the chosen candidate will drive the development of a brand-new web-based user interface and its supporting backend, along with creating relevant documentation, testing, and demonstrations. Primary Purpose of Position:
Drive software from initial concept and architecture design through to final deployment, verification, and long-term maintenance.
Diagnose root causes of complex system bugs and write code fixes to prevent recurrence in live production environments. rite automated unit tests and integration test suites to maximize test coverage and guarantee high software reliability.
Essential Function and Responsibilities:
- Develop & maintain intuitive, responsive, user-facing web applications and front-end user interfaces.
- Develop & maintain robust backend systems and database structures to ensure seamless data flow.
- Support implementation of image processing and machine vision.
- Document APIs and designs/processes for internal use.
- Debug and fix abnormalities in program code.
- Create optimized code to minimize impact on system resources.
- Create drafts describing new features for external use.
- Create and maintain automated tests for relevant areas.
- Collaborate openly with software team members.
- Demonstrate new features to internal & external users.
- Adopting Agile methodology to develop software.
- Support Applied personnel in the field as well as customers as needed.
- Infrequent field deployment to launch new features or investigate unreproducible bugs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
- BS or equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
- Robust knowledge of object-oriented programming and inheritance-based designs.
- Experience with image processing and computer vision functions in OpenCV.
- Experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS.
- Experience with Windows-based computers.
- Familiarity with gRPC, C#/.NET, C++, SQL.
- Familiarity with Microsoft development environments, Visual Studio, Azure etc.
- Prior experience working with test-driven development.
- Willingness to design, debug, and document solutions based on known requirements.
- Ability to communicate and work with a team of engineers.
- Working knowledge of deep learning for large image sets preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Standard 40-hour workweek with occasional overtime or off-shift call-ins required to resolve critical manufacturing downtime or meet strict project deployment deadlines.
- Extended periods of sitting at a desk or standing/walking.
- Potential exposure to loud noises, fluctuating temperatures, or high/low voltage systems.
- Extensive daily computer uses for coding, CAD, simulations, and data analytics tools.
