You will work across a spectrum of projects, including sustaining engineering, new product development, and production support, with a focus on software and firmware applications. Responsibilities Work on and take ownership of software and firmware development tasks. Engage in design discussions and participate in code reviews. Troubleshoot software and firmware applications. Mentor interns or new hires and participate in team discussions. Fix bugs and support production with technical expertise. Essential Skills At least 5 years of experience in software engineering. Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required; a Master's Degree is preferred. Experience with embedded software and low-level communication protocols. Proficiency in working with custom Linux builds and bare-metal environments. Strong knowledge of embedded hardware, Linux, Yocto, and cybersecurity. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in manufacturing or production settings is a plus. Ability to articulate complex technical experiences effectively. Work Environment You will be working in a manufacturing/production setting, seated with marketing and sales in a modern, well-equipped facility. The team is small and collaborative, comprising a lead and two other engineers. The company offers a family-like culture with a very friendly atmosphere, including a breakroom stocked with snacks, drinks, and coffee, as well as an onsite gym for employees. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Marcos, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $48.00/hr.
