Are you a motivated student with a passion for software development looking to gain real-world experience in a professional environment? NLC Insurance Companies is seeking a dedicated Software Engineer Intern to join our IT team in Norwich, CT. Your Role This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to real production systems in a supportive, mentorship-driven environment. The candidate will support development of NLC's internal web-based Policy Administration, Claims, and Billing systems, with mentorship and opportunities for professional development and certification. The internship will run for one semester (typically 12-16 weeks), with scheduling based on the candidate's academic calendar. This position is available in both part-time and full-time formats and is based out of our Norwich, CT office. Schedule Options Part-time (academic semester): 8:15 AM•12:15 PM EST, Monday•

Compensation & Details Pay:
$20.00•$25.00 per hour

Norwich, CT (Hybrid•must be local and able to commute) Requirements What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Currently enrolled in a Computer Science or related degree program (junior or senior preferred) Knowledge of Java and Object-Oriented Programming concepts Basic understanding of design patterns, web applications, and/or REST APIs Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and IDEs Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Willingness to learn and grow Preferred Qualifications Experience using AI tools Experience with Java web applications (J2EE) Knowledge of the insurance industry Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) Experience with Guidewire / InsuranceSuite (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter) Minimum GPA of 3.0 Show more Show less
