Software Engineer Controls (Python Programmer)
Location:
Sunrise, FL (Hybrid:
4 days on-site, 1 day remote)Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00PM Pay Rate:

10 Days PTO, 7 Paid Holidays, Comprehensive Health Insurance This role is for a Python programmer who builds and maintains software tools to automatically test car technology—like touchscreen displays, bluetooth, and connected vehicle features. The day-to-day work focuses on four main areas:Writing Test Code:
Writing Python scripts and software libraries that automatically test vehicle control units (ECUs) so humans don't have to test everything manually.Building Automation Infrastructure:
Setting up and managing execution pipelines (often using tools like Jenkins) to run automated tests smoothly and continuously.Fixing & Upgrading Tools:
Troubleshooting broken test scripts, improving existing testing frameworks, and doing code reviews with the team to keep code clean.- Teaming Up with
QA:
Working directly with manual test teams and software developers to understand what needs testing and building the right tools for the job. Position Overview- We are seeking a Software Tools Developer to join our Test Automation & Tools Development team.
- In this role, you will build, maintain, and enhance automated testing tools, Python libraries, and test infrastructure for automotive infotainment, connectivity, and vehicle technologies.
- You will work closely with development and manual QA teams to convert manual test cases into automated scripts, optimizing test coverage, efficiency, and reliability across projects. Key Responsibilities
Automation Development:
Build and maintain Python-based software tools, automation test scripts, and libraries that interface with electronic control units (ECUs), test management software, and defect tracking systems.Pipeline & Execution Management :
Maintain automation configurations and execution pipelines for test infrastructure and collateral.Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with developers and manual test teams to analyze testing requirements and build required scripts and tooling.Code Quality & Best Practices:
Participate in peer code reviews to maintain team standards, prevent regressions, and ensure software quality.Agile Deliverables:
Contribute to team objectives through active participation in continuous Agile/Scrum development sprints.Process Improvement:
Identify bottlenecks in existing test frameworks and propose creative software solutions for unresolved testing challenges. Required QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.Python Expertise :
2+ years of Python development experience (relevant coursework or academic research may be considered).Software Fundamentals:
2+ years of experience with object-oriented analysis and design, multithreading, data structures, and algorithms.Problem Solving :
Strong analytical abilities with a proven track record of root-cause problem resolution. Preferred QualificationsTest Frameworks :
Experience with automated testing frameworks such as PyTest, unit testing, or Slash.CI/CD & Orchestration :
Hands-on experience with Jenkins for automated test scheduling, orchestration, and execution environments.Tooling & Scripting:
Familiarity with Windows/Linux command-line scripting (batch/shell) and additional programming languages like Groovy, Java, C++, or Django for web apps.Ecosystem Tools:
Experience using TestRail, Jira, and GitHub, along with database knowledge (SQL).Embedded Systems:
Familiarity with embedded operating systems such as QNX or Linux, or GUI testing tools like Squish.
