Job Description
Position Overview Minitab is seeking a highly skilled Staff DevOps Engineer who will support and evolve Minitab's software delivery infrastructure and operational processes. In this position, you will lead technical initiatives to optimize deployments, improve system reliability, and scale engineering operations. You'll also mentor other engineers and contribute to the ongoing development of our technical strategy. This position requires deep technical expertise, strategic problem-solving abilities, and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. What You'll Do Develop and Maintain Infrastructure and Automation Drive the design, implementation, and evolution of CI/CD pipelines to maintain a seamless, efficient code integration and deployment process. Promote the use of infrastructure as code to enhance scalability, consistency, and operational excellence. Ensure infrastructure meets high standards of reliability, testability, and security. Proactively lead optimization initiatives to improve system performance and reduce technical debt. Production Support and System Reliability Support production systems to maintain high service uptime. Participate in on-call rotations and address incidents promptly. Implement robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response systems to facilitate proactive issue detection, resolution, and post-mortem analyses. Drive system reliability through root cause analysis and long-term issue remediation. Communication and Collaboration Foster clear and effective communication with team members and stakeholders to ensure alignment of objectives, priorities, and risks. Provide high-quality, timely code reviews. Offer technical insight and guidance both within your team's scope and across areas where you hold expertise or ownership. Software Delivery Planning and Execution Lead a team in the successful delivery of DevOps projects in partnership with cross-functional team members through high-quality planning and execution. Develop work backlogs for medium to large systems or projects that facilitate prioritized incremental and iterative delivery of customer value. Achieve consistent and predictable velocity while managing competing priorities and risks. Communicate clearly and proactively develop mitigation strategies to address risks. Engineering and Operational Strategy Contribute to the development and execution of long-term strategies for system architecture, cloud adoption, and operational excellence. Assess and recommend new technologies and practices that enhance the DevOps lifecycle. Participate in roadmap discussions to align operational capabilities with broader business goals. Facilitate Technical Growth and Development Promote the growth and development of our engineering team by fostering a culture of learning and knowledge sharing. Facilitate and lead educational activities such as tech talks, brown bag sessions, and training sessions. Mentor engineers across all levels. Provide regular, actionable feedback to support individual and team excellence. What We're Looking For 7+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or systems administration. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience. Strong proficiency in automation tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, and GitHub Actions, as well as configuration management tools such as Ansible and Puppet. In-depth understanding of containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash. Proven track record of leading projects from inception to production. Proficiency required in speaking, reading, and writing English.
