The Driver & Programmer is the main bus driver for the Town's Senior Service program. This individual also schedules monthly outings (events), and supports the Senior Services Manager in the area of program, trip and event development as well as office management. This employee is required to perform all similar or related duties. Position does not require the regular oversight of employees and the employee works under the general supervision of the Adult & Senior Services Manager.

Essentials Duties:

Provides safe transportation of East Greenwich's seniors, including assisting with wheelchair clients; Makes sure all passengers are safe and follow safety protocols; Develops daily bus schedules, and keeps accurate logs of all bus runs; Develops database for all bus and program clients; Assists in filling out registration forms for bus and program participants, as-needed; Inspects and cleans vehicle daily and utilized program space daily and as-needed; Maintains detailed and accurate program and transportation records and related data; Networks with other senior service agencies to maintain resources if in need of outside collaboration or local needs cannot be met by available town services; Attends trainings, conferences and workshops, as directed or required, to maintain knowledge of senior service programs and practices; Assists with the supervision of senior center programs, activities and the Senior Center, as required; Performs other duties as assigned and which are consistent with this position.

Minimum qualifications:

Education and Experience High School diploma or GED equivalent required. 2-5 years of experience in transportation coordination, scheduling, or customer service required. Prior experience working with seniors and knowledge of community transportation services preferred. Proficiency with scheduling software, database management, and Microsoft Office applications preferred. Valid driver's license required; Chauffeur's License for passenger vehicles (15-person bus) required prior to starting work. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement preferred. No major driving violations for the past three (3) years. Tools & Equipment Used Knowledge of bus operations and mechanics. Knowledge of oxygen tank, wheel chair and walker operation and safety measures.
