Software Architect

Job Overview This is a contract-to-hire role for a Software Architect. The Software Architect will need to be local and work in a hybrid setting. Your experience in large-scale, cross team projects will be invaluable for this role. You will be a leader in assuring adherence to coding standards.

Description of Duties Code Review & Quality Assurance:

Perform regular, detailed code reviews, providing constructive feedback to improve code quality, maintainability, and security.

Architecture & Design:

Design and implement software architectures for large-scale, high-performance systems.

Standards Development:

Define coding standards, design rules, and guidelines for the development team

Technical Leadership:

Lead and direct the team on technical best practices. Actively participate in project planning, troubleshooting, and resolving critical software/hardware interface issues.

Component Design:

Oversee the development of critical code paths and perform, or oversee, architectural spikes (prototypes).

Quality Assurance:

Some QA involved for coding quality, defects, and enhancements. Will be responsible to provide guidance on coding best practices.

Coding :

Able to support coding requirements if needed (less than 10%) Key Qualifications 5+ years of software development experience, with specific experience in software design and architecture in Agile environments. Experience in large, cross-team project delivery. Strong expertise in Java. Some experience with Python, or C#. Deep knowledge of design patterns, UML, and software development frameworks. Knowledge of coding design and best practices Confident motivator, able to lead and direct the team in learning and using appropriate coding best practices Experience with databases such as: Oracle, SQL Server, SQL, T-SQL Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience Additional Details Long-term assignment with the possibility for permanent hire Hybrid work schedule - Houston, TX location starting in North Houston 290 Role reports to the IT Project Manager and is an embedded member of a single team $85 - $110/hr.
