Spring Framework Full Job Description Description Purpose of Position:
The Software Engineer 3 is a technical leader and strategic partner within the technology team, responsible for owning the architecture, delivery, and performance of business-critical backend applications and systems integrations. This role balances deep backend expertise with cross-functional agility—contributing to frontend applications, CI/CD pipelines, and observability practices as needed. Serving as a mentor to junior developers and an advocate for modern, AI-assisted engineering workflows, this individual ensures our engineering ecosystems remain scalable, secure, and closely aligned with enterprise business goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish and reinforce code quality standards through code reviews, testing, and maintainable design practices Design and implement complex systems while balancing scalability, performance, maintainability, and operational reliability Analyze application performance, algorithm efficiency, and system architecture to improve reliability and long-term maintainability Identify security vulnerabilities and insecure coding practices, including common OWASP-related issues, and promote secure development practices across the team Research and integrate modern AI-assisted and agentic development workflows into the software development lifecycle Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, collaboration, and code reviews Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements Qualifications:
Strong proficiency in Java and Spring-based application development Strong background in REST APIs and systems integration Proficiency with JPA, SQL, and enterprise database design Familiarity with Vue or comparable front-end frameworks Hands-on work with Jenkins pipelines and CI/CD workflows Working knowledge of observability, logging, and diagnostic tools such as Kibana Strong debugging skills across distributed and integrated systems Demonstrated ownership of production systems in live environments Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions Background in retail or eCommerce platforms
Education/Experience:
5+ years in professional software engineering Familiarity with microservice architecture and distributed systems Exposure to cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices Experience with AI-assisted engineering workflows, including .claude configuration and agentic development tooling Experience supporting and modernizing legacy applications Familiarity with Android or other mobile application development a plus Knowledge of Oracle databases a plus Knowledge of SAP Commerce / Hybris a plus Familiarity with Retail.net a plus
