The Role Design and guide secure, distributed, cloud-native software architectures for defense and mission applications. Lead systems integration through APIs, data contracts, messaging, and mission-system interfaces. Collaborate with government customers, engineers, analysts, and product owners to translate operational needs into technical designs and delivery plans. Support Agile development, modeling and simulation integration, secure deployment, resiliency, observability, and operation across classified, disconnected, and tactical-edge environments. Summary Generated by Built In In a world of possibilities, pursue one with endless opportunities. Imagine Next! At Parsons, you can imagine a career where you thrive, work with exceptional people, and be yourself. Guided by our leadership vision of valuing people, embracing agility, and fostering growth, we cultivate an innovative culture that empowers you to achieve your full potential. Unleash your talent and redefine what's possible. Parsons is seeking an exceptionally talented Software Solutions Architect to join our team supporting advanced defense and mission applications supporting the development of unmanned vehicles. In this pivotal role, you will act as the technical spearhead designing and guiding the delivery of software solutions that integrate operational data, modeling and simulation, Automatic Target Recognition (ATR), and Autonomy Engines across complex, multi-domain tactical environments. You will work closely with government customers, product owners, software engineers, data engineers, and mission analysts to translate operational needs into scalable, secure, and deployable software solutions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who can move comfortably between mission requirements, software architecture, technical design, and implementation.

What You'll Be Doing Design Mission Software Solutions :

Define end-to-end architectures for secure, distributed, cloud-native, and data-intensive mission applications. Architect low-latency software pipelines to ingest, pre-process, and execute real-time models at the tactical edge. Architect and implement robust ML Ops pipelines that span from centralized cloud training environments down to resource-constrained, disconnected edge hardware.

Lead Systems Integration :

Design clean, high-performance APIs and data contracts connecting sensors, Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) models, and autonomous decision-making engines.

Scale Edge ML Ops:

Architect and implement robust ML Ops pipelines that span from centralized cloud training environments down to resource-constrained, disconnected edge hardware.

Guide Technical Delivery :

Partner with engineers, data scientists, analysts, and Product Owners to translate mission needs into technical designs and implementation plans.

Support Agile Product Development :

Contribute to backlog refinement, architecture reviews, sprint planning, demonstrations, and incremental delivery within an Agile or SAFe environment.

Integrate Modeling and Simulation :

Support the integration of modeling, simulation, experimentation, and analysis capabilities into mission applications and decision-support tools.

Ensure Secure, Reliable Deployment :

Guide approaches for performance, scalability, resiliency, observability, automation, and deployment across cloud, classified, disconnected, and tactical-edge environments. Required Clearance Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance. What Required Skills You'll Bring Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in software engineering, software architecture, or technical solution design. Additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Demonstrated experience designing and delivering software solutions in complex DoD, intelligence, aerospace, or mission-critical environments. Experience defining software architectures for distributed systems, microservices, APIs, data platforms, or mission applications. Strong understanding of software development practices, including version control, automated testing, continuous integration and delivery, and iterative Agile development. Experience with one or more modern programming languages, such as Java, Python, Go, C++, or JavaScript/TypeScript. Experience designing and integrating RESTful services, event-driven systems, message brokers, or real-time data pipelines. Experience with cloud-native technologies, containers, orchestration platforms, or secure deployment environments. Experience working with structured and semi-structured data, including JSON, relational databases, object storage, and data exchange formats. Ability to create clear architecture views, technical designs, interface specifications, and implementation guidance. Experience working directly with government customers, product owners, software developers, and technical subject matter experts. Strong communication skills and the ability to lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and solution trade studies. What Desired Skills You'll Bring Experience supporting DoD, intelligence, unmanned aerial systems, command and control, or multi-domain mission environments. Experience integrating applications with modeling and simulation tools Experience deploying and operating software in classified, disconnected, or otherwise secure environments. Familiarity with Cross-Domain Solutions and the technical challenges associated with secure data transfer across security boundaries. Experience with the TAK ecosystem, including TAK Server, WebTAK, or ATAK. Experience with Palantir Foundry or similar data integration and operational analytics platforms. Familiarity with Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, S3-compatible storage, PostgreSQL, Redis, or comparable technologies. Experience with infrastructure as code, automated deployment pipelines, observability, and secure software supply chains. Understanding of Zero Trust principles as applied to applications, services, identity, and data. Experience designing systems for real-time, tactical-edge, disconnected, intermittent, and low-bandwidth operating environments. Active participation in software architecture, development, or technical implementation—not solely enterprise architecture, IT governance, or infrastructure planning.
