Job Description This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus. ! The City of Chesapeake is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support and enhance the City's PeopleSoft Financials environment. This position is responsible for administering, maintaining, and optimizing the PeopleSoft application and supporting infrastructure to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of critical enterprise systems. The Software Engineer will manage system upgrades, patches, integrations, customizations, and environment refreshes while monitoring system performance and resolving complex technical issues. This position works closely with functional teams, database administrators, and third party vendors to implement technical solutions that support the City's financial operations. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in PeopleSoft administration and development, along with excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and customer service skills. Preferred Qualifications Five or more years of experience administering, implementing, and supporting PeopleSoft Financials or other enterprise ERP systems. Experience with PeopleTools, including Application Designer, Data Mover, Process Scheduler, Integration Broker, and Oracle WebLogic administration. Experience applying PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) images, patches, upgrades, and performing environment refreshes. Experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server databases, including writing SQL for troubleshooting and performance tuning. Experience developing and maintaining PeopleSoft customizations using PeopleCode, Application Engine, SQR, BI Publisher, and related development tools. Experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting complex enterprise application environments. Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines in a fast paced environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively support both technical and nontechnical stakeholders. VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
: Requires a bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience in computer science or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of two years of full-time experience in software development and engineering.
