We are filling a PowerBuilder and .NET developer seat with a Commonwealth of Virginia agency in downtown Richmond, on the state technology contract. The rate is $80 to $95 an hour depending on your experience and whether you go W2 or corp to corp through your own company. Tell us your number and we will give you a straight answer the same day. If we take you to the client we pay what we agreed, and we do not renegotiate after the fact. If you would rather have a real benefits package than the top hourly number, say so. On W2 we can put paid state holidays, medical, dental, vision and a retirement match on the table. Almost nobody bidding this job will offer you that. The work You would be the backup support developer on a banking application. You would work primarily in a PowerBuilder application and support other applications written in .NET. Day to day that means translating written requirements into database and program solutions, performing system administration and maintenance on production systems, responding to system alerts and user events, designing, developing, testing, debugging and implementing programs, and writing the standard operating procedures and technical documentation that go with the work. What you need PowerBuilder or InfoMaker, four years. ASP.NET web work using MVC, Web Forms or Blazor, five years. Visual Studio, five years. HTML, CSS and JavaScript, five years. Web API work in C#, Entity Framework and LINQ, one year. Oracle or SQL Server, five years. Microsoft Office, Visio and SharePoint, five years. Strong analysis and problem solving, clear speaking and writing, and the ability to work on your own with very little direction. Nice to have Microsoft Dynamics 365, three years. Azure DevOps or Team Foundation Server, three years. Client server application maintenance in C# or VB.NET with Entity Framework and Oracle, three years. The details that matter Onsite in Richmond three days a week, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, remote the other two days. You need to already live within a commute. There is no relocation package. Twelve months, October 2026 through October 2027. The interview is by web camera. There is no trip downtown to get hired. You must be able to live in the United States for the whole assignment. The Commonwealth does not permit offshore contractors on this work. W2 or your own single member company.
