Role:

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our Scout team -Remitly's agentic AI team responsible for building AI-powered experiences that help customers send money, solve problems, and complete tasks wherever they are-whether on Remitly's website, mobile app, or third-party platforms like WhatsApp. As a member of the Scout team, you'll collaborate across teams to enable money transfer functionality on external platforms and help other domains by providing them with a robust conversational AI platform. You'll be involved in prototyping, validating, and scaling new AI-driven solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional partners including UX, Legal, Compliance, and Marketing, as well as most platform engineering teams, giving you exposure to a wide range of technical and business challenges.

You Will:

Gather and analyze requirements. Design, code, and test APIs, data storage solutions, and integration with third-party services. Identify and fix issues or bugs. Work with the team to quickly resolve problems and maintain system stability. Collaborate with teams, including product/program managers and marketing, compliance and legal specialists. Guide the team's technical strategy while leading, shipping features and systems. Incorporate AI-assisted development into project-level estimates, identifying where AI tools compress timelines and adjusting plans accordingly. Evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability before it ships. Guide peers on effective and responsible AI use, including validation practices and sound judgment with AI-generated output. Promote engineering excellence by delivering well-tested, observable, documented, efficient, scalable, and resilient solutions, improving team processes, and contributing to cross-team technical designs. Explore new problem areas, using AI where useful to deliver prototypes or proofs-of-concept.

You Have:

A BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience 5+ years of professional experience Experience building and optimizing large-scale web architectures. Experience evaluating AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability, and coaching others on responsible AI use Knowledge of backend programming languages such as Java or Golang Proven experience software development practices, system design, software design patterns, and algorithms Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.) Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $180,000-$225,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
