Day Shift Acara Solutions is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, implement, test, and maintain embedded software, platforms, board-support packages, and device drivers for new and existing products, working closely with other engineering disciplines. About the
Opportunity:
Design, implement, test, debug, and support embedded OS and application software that meets technical and customer requirements. Develop embedded software in C/C++, including reusable components for new and existing designs. Conduct unit, integration, and system testing; track defects and validate fixes. Develop automated tests and tools in Python or a similar high-level language. Document designs through code comments, reports, and technical descriptions. Follow established coding standards and best practices, including version-controlled workflows and peer code reviews. Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure software/hardware compatibility and performance. Serve as technical lead on assigned projects, coordinating with functional groups and customers to meet deliverables and resolve issues. Drive innovative designs based on input from product management and customers. Use AI tools effectively to improve productivity and code quality. What You'll Do:
What You'll Bring:
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. 7 years minimum of embedded software development experience, primarily in
C/C++. 5
years minimum experience with ARM processors, RTOS-based systems (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr, Embedded Linux), and bare-metal implementations.
What Sets You Apart:
Strong understanding of microcontroller architecture, timing, memory, interrupts, multithreading, real-time scheduling, IPC, and deterministic networking. Experience with low-level communication protocols (USB, RS232, SPI, I2C, CAN) and networking protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS); industrial wired networks a plus. Working knowledge of electronic circuits and schematic diagrams; proficiency with test/debug tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers). Strong communication and collaboration skills; well organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently under deadlines.
