Job Description

Job Summary Build the Future of Medical Manufacturing Automation Moldworx LLC , a Sunningdale Tech company located in Chandler, Arizona, is seeking an experienced Automation Manager / Senior Automation Engineer to lead the design, development, assembly, and implementation of custom automation systems supporting our growing medical device manufacturing operation. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for taking automation projects from concept through production launch. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable designing a robotic cell in CAD, troubleshooting a vision system, programming a robot, working with vendors, and helping technicians assemble and debug equipment on the production floor. We are looking for a builder, problem solver, and technical leader who enjoys turning ideas into reliable production equipment. Responsibilities Design and develop custom automation equipment for injection molding and assembly operations Lead automation projects from concept through production deployment Develop equipment specifications, risk assessments, and project plans Design EOAT, fixtures, assembly stations, conveyors, vision systems, and robotic work cells Integrate robots, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, servos, pneumatics, and machine controls Support installation, startup, validation, and troubleshooting of automation systems Work closely with molding, tooling, quality, and manufacturing engineering teams Manage outside machine builders and automation suppliers Identify opportunities to reduce labor, improve quality, and increase manufacturing efficiency through automation Develop equipment standards and documentation Mentor technicians and junior engineers Support capital equipment planning and automation strategy Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred; equivalent combination of education, technical training, and directly relevant industry experience will be considered 5+ years of progressively responsible industrial automation experience preferred Demonstrated success designing, building, troubleshooting, and deploying automated manufacturing systems Strong mechanical design experience using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software Experience designing and building custom automated manufacturing equipment Knowledge of industrial robotics such as Fanuc, Epson, Sepro, ABB, Yaskawa, or similar platforms Experience with PLCs, HMIs, motion control, sensors, pneumatics, and machine safety systems Strong understanding of machine vision and automated inspection systems Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems Strong project management and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Medical device manufacturing experience Injection molding automation experience Cleanroom manufacturing experience Validation experience including
IQ/OQ/PQ
Experience with collaborative robots and Industry 4.0 initiatives Experience leading automation projects from concept through production launch What Success Looks Like Within the first year, this individual will: Lead multiple automation projects supporting medical device production Improve labor efficiency through automation deployment Establish automation design standards and best practices Reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability Support future lights-out and semi-autonomous manufacturing initiatives Serve as the technical leader for automation strategy and execution Additional Information Moldworx values technical capability, problem-solving ability, and demonstrated results.
