The Manager, Engineering - Systems (United States) is a regional leadership role responsible for managing a team of up to 20 systems engineers in the United States. This role provides day-to-day management, technical guidance, and career development for engineers working on embedded Linux systems, kernel development, user space applications, and related infrastructure. The US team focuses on technical architecture, product strategy, customer engagement, and cross-team coordination. In your daily job you will: Team ManagementManage a team of up to 20 engineers including MTS, SMTS, Architects, Senior Engineers, and EngineersConduct regular 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and career development discussionsFacilitate team meetings, sprint planning, and retrospectivesResolve conflicts and maintain team cohesionEnsure team members have necessary resources and supportProvide mentorship to junior managers and technical leads Technical Leadership- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team membersReview code, architecture decisions, and technical designsEnsure adherence to coding standards and best practicesParticipate in technical discussions and problem-solvingStay current with industry trends and technologiesLead technical architecture and strategic planning initiatives Hiring & Development
- Participate in recruiting and hiring processes
- Onboard new team members and ensure smooth integration
- Develop individual development plans for team members
- Identify training needs and opportunities
- Support career growth and advancement
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
Key skills and competencies for succeeding in this role are: Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field7+ years of engineering experience3+ years of engineering management experienceExperience managing teams of 10+ engineersBackground in embedded systems, Linux, or systems softwareStrong understanding of embedded Linux systemsExperience with Linux kernel development or user space applicationsKnowledge of software development lifecycle and agile methodologiesFamiliarity with build systems, CI/CD, and development toolsUnderstanding of code review processes and quality assuranceExperience with technical architecture and strategic planning Management SkillsProven ability to lead and develop engineering teamsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsExperience with performance management and career developmentAbility to balance technical and business prioritiesProject management and resource allocation experienceStrong customer engagement and stakeholder management skillsExperience mentoring senior engineers and technical leadsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
