About the Role We are seeking a hands-on Technical Engineering Manager to lead and grow an agile development team. This is a true player-coach role, requiring active technical contribution alongside team leadership. You will remain deeply involved in engineering—writing code, reviewing pull requests, and contributing to architecture—while also mentoring team members and driving delivery outcomes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical execution with leadership responsibilities. It is not suited for candidates looking to transition fully away from coding. Key Responsibilities Contribute directly to development efforts (40-60% hands-on coding), including writing production code, reviewing pull requests, debugging, and supporting architecture decisions Work within a C# .NET and Angular environment with minimal ramp-up time Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, tools, and processes with a focus on quality, security, and DevOps Champion test automation and ensure strong test coverage across features and fixes Guide the team through complex technical decisions while promoting ownership and accountability Lead sprint planning, prioritization, and delivery to align with business objectives Partner with Product and stakeholders to communicate progress, risks, and dependencies Improve team efficiency and balance technical initiatives with feature delivery Support the team during high-demand periods, ensuring clarity and execution Mentor and develop engineers through coaching, feedback, and structured growth opportunities Conduct regular 1:1s and support career development planning Foster a culture of trust, transparency, and collaboration Participate in hiring and help build a high-performing, diverse team Maintain a strong understanding of product goals and customer needs Establish and model high standards for technical excellence and team behavior Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) 8+ years of software engineering experience, including progressive leadership responsibility 4+ years leading teams in an agile/scrum environment Strong, current hands-on coding experience in production environments Ability to contribute quickly within a C# .NET / Angular stack (or similar technologies) Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and modern architecture Experience building enterprise applications using n-tier and cloud-native architectures Background in SaaS development on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or similar) Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and tools like Jira or Azure DevOps Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders Proven ability to mentor and grow engineering talent Strong problem-solving and debugging skills A security-first mindset in system design and development What Sets You Apart Experience modernizing legacy systems while maintaining ongoing delivery Strong communicator who effectively represents team priorities and challenges Empathetic leader with a collaborative, low-ego approach Adaptable and proactive in fast-changing environments Growth-oriented mindset with a willingness to take on new challenges Ability to balance hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities Trusted team leader who builds strong relationships and empowers others Benefits & Perks Fully Remote Work Environment (U.S.) Unlimited PTO + Sick Time + Paid Holidays Paid Parental Leave Comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance 401(k) Retirement Plan
