DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead the team that owns and builds the embedded firmware for"Avionics Endpoints. These endpoints are used for three very mission critical functions - determine and change the spacecraft's attitude (orientation), generating power used by all the onboard systems on the satellite, and communication with ground stations on Earth.
Role Summary:
As the SDM for this team, you will hire, develop, and lead a team of SDEs building the flight software for satellites. You will get to work closely with hardware and other software teams to deliver highly optimized, fault tolerant, mission critical software written in C++/Rust/Python . You will also own the strategy and execution of not only the software that runs on the satellite, but also lead the design and development of a framework to detect, inject and isolate faults on components that spans the entire satellite.

A day in the life As a Software Development Manager, you will play a crucial role in the development of services to support the automation of the Leo mission. You will work with a dynamic group of passionate engineers and collaborators across peer teams to identify automation needs, design novel solutions that meet customer requirements, and write software to automate key behaviors for our constellation's space and ground assets. You will be building low-latency, highly-scalable architecture to generate and execute our mission plans safely and effectively. About the team The Autopilot team builds software which supports the automated planning and execution of satellite activities, empowering humans to automate key tasks and take themselves out of the loop as we scale the Leo constellation. We own services that model spacecraft behaviors, predict future vehicle state, capture operational constraints on our system, and generate mission schedules that serve our customers while preserving vehicle health and safety.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of engineering team management experience 7+ years of engineering experience 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience 1+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C++ experience 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using service-oriented architecture experience 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using distributed programming experience 5+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations Experience partnering with product or program management teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
