PLC/HMI Commissioning Work Site:
Phoenix, AZ - QTS PHX3
Data Center Compensation:
Up to $71/hour , based on your specific experience.
Hours:
Expect roughly 50 hours weekly , with a schedule of Monday through Saturday, 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM .
Assignment Length:
Roughly 4 months , subject to project requirements. About the Role We are looking for a skilled Automation Specialist / PLC-HMI Programmer to assist with startup and commissioning tasks at the QTS data center site in Phoenix, AZ . This role operates in a high-speed commissioning setting. Since the PLC programming is already complete, your primary focus will be on loop checks, supporting commissioning, troubleshooting, and initiating chiller startups , rather than building automation systems from the ground up.
IGNITION CORE CERTIFICATION IS MANDATORY.
Applicants lacking a valid Ignition Core Certification will not be reviewed. Core Duties Help facilitate PLC/HMI commissioning tasks for mechanical and automation systems within the data center. Execute and assist with I/O and loop verification processes. Provide support during the startup and commissioning of chiller units. Identify and resolve issues with PLCs, HMIs, controls, and field devices throughout the startup phase. Utilize pre-existing PLC code to diagnose and fix commissioning problems. Help ensure control sequences and linked equipment function as intended to maintain system integrity. Utilize the Ignition HMI interface throughout the startup and commissioning process. Resolve communication and control-system malfunctions as they occur to keep the project on track. Collaborate effectively with commissioning teams, controls techs, engineers, and field staff. Sustain high output levels in a demanding environment to meet tight project deadlines. Essential Qualifications Ignition Core Certification - MANDATORY. Practical experience working with Ignition HMI. Background using Allen-Bradley CompactLogix and/or ControlLogix PLC hardware. Between 1 and 3+ years of professional experience in controls, automation, commissioning, or PLC/HMI work. Proven ability to perform startup, troubleshooting, loop checks, and commissioning. Capability to work with and troubleshoot existing PLC programs without supervision. Solid grasp of industrial control and automation systems. Ready to hit the ground running and contribute to the project immediately without needing training. Desired Qualifications Prior experience at a QTS Data Center. Background in mission-critical or data center commissioning projects. Experience with mechanical controls and chiller startup procedures. History of supporting rapid commissioning and project turnover timelines.
