Long-Term Required Skills and Experience- A minimum of 3 years of systems development, testing, or business experience.
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies (manual and automated) and different types of testing (business process, functional, integration, regression, performance, security, etc.)
- Ability to define test plans, test cases, test execution, defect management, and reporting in enterprise application development environment.
- Basic Unix/Linux skills for job monitoring and log analysis.
- Hands-on experience with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) tools, BI/Reporting tools, and test management tools (e.g. ADO, Service Now)
- Experience with databases such as Oracle and Structured Query Language (SQL) Server.
- Ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Keen eye for detail to identify even minor defects, using prior experiences and lessons learned.
- Ability to evaluate information, assess risks, and work with the project team to make sound judgments.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet project internal milestones and deadlines. Primary Responsibilities
- Test Case Development and Management.
- Identify and document end-to-end test scenarios covering all critical business processes and system requirements.
- Create comprehensive test cases, including specific names, objectives, and detailed test steps.
- Review and validate test cases with the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure exhaustive coverage of both functional and non-functional requirements.
- Maintain all test assets within Azure DevOps (ADO) to ensure version control and authorized accessibility.
- Functional/System Integration Testing (SIT) Test Cases.
- Engineer test cases for the five agency business systems in scope based on approved requirements, workflows, and system design.
- Define preconditions and specific test data requirements for every test case to ensure execution readiness.
- Specify granular steps and expected results for all System Integration Testing (SIT) scenarios to facilitate objective validation.
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Coordination and Facilitation.
- Coordinate the UAT process in strict alignment with the approved UAT Plan.
- Support UAT coordinator in planning sessions, technical walkthroughs, and stakeholder review meetings to ensure alignment. Testing Support and Execution.
- Support Department staff directly during execution by providing expert guidance on testing procedures and best practices, including onboarding and testing ADO.
- Monitor and track testing velocity to ensure the timely completion of all scheduled test cases.
- Record all test runs with comprehensive detail, including input data, actual results, and identified deviations.
- Support and conduct functional and system integration testing of the client business systems, working with the business analyst on the project.
- Defect Management.
- Log defects in the designated management system while categorizing them by severity and business impact.
- Document reproduction steps and visual evidence for every defect in accordance with the client standards.
- Coordinate with the client defect management lead in creating and monitoring the defects with the central defect management tool (ServiceNow).
- Reporting and Documentation.
- Generate test run reports summarizing pass and fail status, defect density, and overall system readiness.
- Continuous improvements of the ADO testing Dashboards.
- Submit progress and defect tracking reports to the shared client repository for formal stakeholder review.
- Secure formal approval from the QA Lead for all documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards. Education
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent work experience is required. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis when applicable. Certification
- Industry certifications related to software testing, such as International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB), Certified Software Tester (CSTE), Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST), and Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA).
