One of the country's largest automotive engineering organizations is searching for a seasoned Telematics Test Engineer to join their team onsite in Columbus, IN . In this pivotal role, you'll drive the testing and integration of connected-vehicle features that power innovation and reliability across the industry. Your expertise will help ensure robust communication, seamless software updates, and outstanding digital solutions that affect millions across the country. This exciting opportunity to shape the future of automotive connectivity begins as a 1-year W2 contract offering an onsite schedule at one of the industry's most advanced shops, along with competitive benefits and the potential for extension or conversion to permanent employment.
Responsibilities:
Lead thorough test execution from start to finish, including test automation and documentation within a lifecycle management platform. Validate over-the-air software (OTA) updates and connected services, covering all use scenarios including routine, edge cases, and failure modes. Act as a technical liaison for integration efforts with major OEM partners, supporting digital solution rollouts from development through launch. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues spanning embedded modules, telematics devices, and cloud infrastructure. Design and implement automation tools and scripts to streamline testing processes and broaden coverage. Communicate test results and critical issues to project managers, ensuring timely and transparent reporting. Develop and maintain high-quality test assets and documentation that remain valuable beyond the assignment. Uphold rigorous test execution standards, including maintaining test-bench readiness and comprehensive records.
Skills & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field is required. Demonstrated expertise in telematics and connected-vehicle validation , especially with end-to-end workflows and software update testing. Strong background in embedded systems or device validation , including troubleshooting and complex debugging. Proficiency with network protocols such as
CAN , J1939
, and UDS ; experience interpreting logs and identifying issues. Working knowledge of CANalyzer or PCAN for message analysis and simulation. Familiarity with cloud platforms ( Azure or AWS ) and backend service integration for system-level testing. Capable of developing automation solutions to optimize validation efficiency. Experience collaborating with OEM partners on technical integrations. Skilled at producing clear, concise test documentation and conveying technical findings to diverse stakeholders. Hands-on experience managing artifacts and defect records in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. Exposure to Agile methodologies, including participation in sprints and progress tracking.
Preferred:
History of improving validation processes or developing reusable frameworks Understanding of telematics architecture involving cloud-to-device communication Experience with dashboard or reporting tools to visualize quality metrics.
