Job Description
About the Role As a Lead Building Automation Specialist, you will spearhead the deployment, optimization, and maintenance of complex Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems within commercial environments. You will play a pivotal role in driving energy efficiency and operational excellence by leading technical teams through sophisticated HVAC integration projects. Responsibilities Execute the installation, programming, and commissioning of DDC controllers, sensors, and actuators to ensure seamless building automation. Drive system performance by conducting rigorous testing, verification, and advanced troubleshooting of HVAC control sequences. Partner with engineering stakeholders to architect and implement innovative control strategies that maximize facility energy efficiency. Provide technical mentorship and leadership to junior staff, ensuring high-quality standards across all field installations and repairs. Perform proactive system maintenance and diagnostic analysis to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifecycles. Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations and network updates to ensure long-term operational transparency. Qualifications Required Skills Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in HVAC controls and DDC system management. Advanced proficiency in programming and configuring industry-standard controllers such as Niagara 4, Distech, or Honeywell. Deep expertise in building management system (BMS) integration and network communication protocols including BACnet and Modbus. Proven ability to interpret complex control schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications. Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to guide technical teams and manage project workflows. Preferred Skills Active professional certifications in HVAC controls or advanced DDC programming. Strong background in LonWorks or other specialized automation communication standards. Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on client-facing communication and subcontractor coordination.
