Contract Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Sr. Software QA Engineer to join our team on a 12-month contract in Newton, Massachusetts. This role will be responsible for developing and executing software testing strategies for application and embedded software, identifying defects, analyzing test results, and collaborating with software, hardware, and product engineering teams to ensure high-quality and reliable products. The ideal candidate will have strong software QA experience, hands-on testing of software/hardware systems, and programming or scripting experience for test automation. Key Responsibilities Develop, document, and execute detailed test cases for application and embedded software Identify, document, and track software defects, inconsistencies, and performance issues using bug-tracking systems. Collaborate with software developers, hardware engineers, and product managers to understand product requirements and testing needs. Analyze test results and provide actionable feedback to engineering teams. Troubleshoot software and system-level issues and assist with root-cause analysis. Recommend improvements to enhance software performance, reliability, and quality. Support test automation and continuous improvement of QA processes. Maintain clear and accurate test documentation and quality records. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. 3-5 years of experience in software quality assurance/testing, preferably involving application software and hardware systems. Familiarity with communication protocols such as:

Serial UART Experience with programming or scripting languages such as C, C++, or Python for test automation. Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN. Experience with continuous integration/development tools such as Azure DevOps or similar platforms. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail.\ Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience testing safety-critical software systems. Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices or automotive. Familiarity with FDA regulations and medical software development practices. Knowledge of IEC 62304 or other medical device software lifecycle standards. Experience with embedded software, hardware/software integration, or system-level testing. Experience developing or maintaining automated software test frameworks.
