Job Description
QA Engineer - Rational Governance Rational Enterprise | Albany, NY (In-Office) Rational Enterprise is hiring a QA Engineer to join the engineering team behind Rational Governance (RG), our enterprise information governance platform. RG helps organizations understand and manage unstructured data in place and in real-time - powering legal holds, preservations, retention policies, and broader risk and cost reduction across enterprise data. As a QA Engineer on this team, you'll be responsible for validating that RG accurately discovers, ingests, and surfaces content from a wide range of enterprise data sources and that the policies built on top of that data behave as expected. This role blends hands-on manual testing with automation, and requires someone comfortable working across multiple connected systems, not just a single application. What You'll Do Create and manage test data across mock enterprise environments, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Exchange, and Confluence Verify that content generated in these source systems is correctly captured, indexed, and searchable within the RG Web UI Design and execute test plans covering document discovery, metadata capture, and policy enforcement workflows Test legal hold workflows and custodian survey functionality to ensure accuracy and compliance readiness Log, triage, and track defects using GitHub Issues, providing clear repro steps and context for engineering Build and maintain automated test coverage for both UI and backend workflows Collaborate closely with developers and product managers to understand feature requirements and edge cases Participate in release testing cycles and help maintain overall product quality as new features ship What We're Looking For Proven QA experience, including manual testing, defect tracking/ticketing, and working with issue trackers (GitHub Issues or similar) Experience with test automation (tooling flexible — e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar) Comfort working with and configuring multiple enterprise systems/environments for testing purposes (M365, SharePoint, Exchange, Confluence, or similar) Strong attention to detail and ability to trace data end-to-end across systems Clear written communication for bug reports, test plans, and cross-team collaboration
