Senior QA Automation Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer for a 6-month contract position based in East Elmhurst, New York. In this role, you will design and build a Selenium-based automation framework to replace manual regression testing, improve test coverage, and enable confident software releases. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and QA team members to automate critical workflows across existing web applications. Responsibilities Learn existing applications, business rules, user workflows, and key test scenarios to inform automation strategy. Perform manual and exploratory testing to validate requirements and identify high-priority test cases before automating them. Build a reusable and maintainable Selenium WebDriver framework using Java or Python, following object-oriented programming best practices. Convert important manual test cases into reliable automated tests across existing application workflows. Create effective XPath and CSS selectors, including handling of older or complex web applications. Integrate automated tests with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI to enable continuous testing in the development pipeline. Perform API testing using tools such as Postman or REST Assured and write SQL queries to verify backend data integrity. Identify and resolve flaky or unreliable automation scripts to maintain stable, consistent test results. Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA team members to identify optimal areas for test automation. Qualifications Required 10+ years of QA or Software Quality Engineering experience, with strong hands-on experience in UI automation. Strong hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver and automation frameworks such as Page Object Model. Proficiency in Java or Python and solid understanding of object-oriented programming concepts. Ability to write SQL queries for data validation and backend testing. Hands-on experience with Git and working with source code branches. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot automation issues independently with limited supervision. Preferred Experience with Playwright or migrating existing automation to newer testing tools. Experience testing applications hosted in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure. Familiarity with Maven or similar build tools.
