Job Description
Description:
ROLE MISSION
Build the systems and automation that allow ConnectUs warehouse and logistics operations to scale faster, move with greater accuracy, and rely less on manual work. Own the technical bridge between warehouse operations and the systems powering receiving, serialized inventory, orders, fulfillment, device lifecycle services, shipping, returns, reporting, and customer integrations.THE OPPORTUNITY
This is not a traditional software developer or WMS administrator role. This is a hands on builder who can walk the warehouse floor, understand how work actually happens, identify friction and wasted labor, then design and develop a better system driven workflow.TOP 3 PRIORITIES 1.
Automate Warehouse & Logistics Workflows Map receiving, inventory, order allocation, pick, pack, ship, staging, serialization, RMA, depot, buyback, and related workflows. Identify repetitive work, duplicate entry, bottlenecks, error prone handoffs, and tribal knowledge. Standardize before automating and build solutions that reduce labor, touches, cycle time, bottlenecks, and errors. 2. Lead Outsourced Development & Project Delivery Serve as the internal technical owner for projects delivered with outsourced development partners. Translate warehouse and business needs into clearly workflowed requirements, process maps, acceptance criteria, technical specifications, milestones, and priorities. Work closely with external developers throughout design, development, testing, deployment, and stabilization to keep projects on time, remove ambiguity and blockers, validate quality, and ensure the final solution is delivered to specification. Personally build or configure integrations and automations where appropriate while maintaining end to end ownership of the outcome. 3. Continuously Improve Speed, Accuracy & Scalability Establish operational baselines and prioritize development based on customer impact, labor savings, error reduction, scalability, and ROI. Build an operating model where transaction volume can grow materially faster than headcount.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work directly with warehouse and operations users to understand workflows and pain points.
- Own outsourced development projects from workflow discovery through scope, requirements, milestones, testing, deployment, and final acceptance.
- Translate operational requirements into clear developer ready process maps, user stories, acceptance criteria, data mappings, and technical specifications.
- Manage day to day collaboration with outsourced developers, proactively resolve blockers, control scope, track delivery against milestones, and ensure completed work meets the intended business and technical requirements.
- Build or directly support integrations using APIs, webhooks, middleware, EDI, SQL, scripting, and custom development where hands on ownership is the fastest or best path.
- Improve barcode scanning, serialized inventory, IMEI and ICCID capture, inventory movement, and traceability.
- Automate order intake, validation, routing, allocation, fulfillment updates, tracking, and exceptions.
- Build dashboards for throughput, cycle time, accuracy, inventory exceptions, and automation performance.
- Troubleshoot system and integration failures and determine root cause.
- Create technical documentation, process maps, data mappings, and support procedures.
- Evaluate when to configure, integrate, build, or replace technology.
IDEAL BACKGROUND
- 4+ years in warehouse systems, logistics technology, business systems, systems integration, automation development, or supply chain technology.
- Experience with WMS, ERP, OMS, inventory, eCommerce, shipping, or supply chain platforms.
- Demonstrated experience successfully leading outsourced or external development teams while remaining technically hands on enough to define requirements, challenge assumptions, validate solutions, and hold delivery to scope and specification.
- Demonstrated experience with REST APIs, webhooks, EDI, middleware, or custom services.
- Working proficiency with SQL and at least one language such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C#.
- Experience with Celigo, Boomi, Workato, Make, Power Automate, or comparable tools is valuable.
- Understanding of databases, data mapping, authentication, logging, error handling, and monitoring.
- Shopify, marketplace, barcode, serialized inventory, or mobile device logistics experience is highly relevant.
