Tampa, FL Job Details Full-time $80,000 - $100,000 a year 6 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description The Opportunity We are seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to support our core automation platform and ensure consistent quality across development, release, and delivery lifecycles. This role is part of the Customer Success organization and works in close collaboration with the System Engineering and Product Management teams to validate platfonn functionality, reliability, and security. This is a hybrid position based in Tampa, FL, combining remote work with periodic on-site presence to support internal testing environments and lab equipment. The QA Engineer is an internal-facing role and will not engage directly with customers. As the first dedicated QA hire, this role will help establish QA standards, testing methodologies, and quality expectations across the team. The ideal candidate balances strong manual testing skills, with test automation experience and works closely with Engineering, System Engineers, and Product Management to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities (Principal Duties and Accountabilities •Essential Functions) QA Strategy & Quality Ownership Establish and maintain QA standards, processes, and best practices for the core automation platform. Serve as the initial owner of quality assurance, defining how quality is measured, validated, and maintained across the software development lifecycle. Partner with Product Management and Engineering to embed quality considerations early in design and development. Continuously evaluate and improve QA practices to support scalability, reliability, and delivery velocity. Test Planning, Execution & Automation Design and maintain test plans, test cases, and scenarios covering functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing. Performs hands on manual testing of user workflows, features, and edge cases to validate real-world platform usage. Develop and maintain automated tests where they provide meaningful value, balancing automation with manual testing. Collaborate with Engineering to integrate automated tests into GitLab CI pipeline Platform & Release Quality Test web applications, backend services, APis, and automation workflows for correctness, stability, and performance. Validate product releases prior to delivery and support post-release verification activities. Reproduce, document, and validate defects with clear steps, expected behavior, and resolution criteria. Participate in release readiness reviews and provide informed quality assessments. Documentation & Knowledge Management Produce and maintain clear, accurate QA documentation, including test plans, standards, and methodologies. Ensure test artifacts and results are well-documented, version-controlled, and accessible. Contribute to internal knowledge bases to promote consistency across engineering and delivery teams. Cross-Functional Collaboration Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives. Collaborate closely with Engineering, System Engineering, and Product Management throughout the development lifecycle. Provide clear, actionable feedback on quality risks, defects, and improvement opportunities. Security, Compliance & Lab Support Ensure testing practices align with security best practices and compliance requirements. Validate fixes related to security findings and vulnerabilities. Support hands on maintenance and use of internal testing equipment and lab environments as needed. Work may occasionally be performed in secure government facilities, requiring adherence to security protocols. Work may be conducted in laboratory, workshop, office, and field environments with varying conditions. Standard office hours as determined by supervisor.
