Job Description
Description currently seeking a contract Software Test Engineer, with the Quality Management department, to enhance the testing of its product by developing and executing comprehensive test plans, automation scripts, and AI-supported quality practices. This position helps ensure the reliability and effectiveness of user interfaces and services, contributing to a seamless user experience and a robust product release cycle. The ideal candidate will have experience applying established testing methodologies, UI automation, API testing, and approved AI-enabled tools to improve test design, defect analysis, documentation, reporting, and day-to-day testing efficiency. Position will be Hybrid - required to work out of the North Carolina office 3 days a week.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and execute automated and manual tests within Agile teams to provide comprehensive coverage for API/SDK/Web Applications and Services, including static reviews, unit, module, performance, load, and integrated systems testing.
- Create and execute test cases, update defects, project tasks, and reports based on requirements, planning documents, and exploratory testing; retest reported issues to verify defects are resolved.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design, develop, and deliver quality software products, including building automation tools, frameworks, and reusable AI-supported testing workflows.
- Use approved AI tools and assistants to accelerate testing activities such as test case generation, test data ideation, code or script review, defect summarization, root-cause research, documentation drafting, requirements clarification, and reporting while validating outputs for accuracy and quality.
- Create, configure, and maintain AI agents or workflow automations to support recurring QA activities, including regression preparation, automation maintenance, defect triage, status reporting, and knowledge capture in alignment with company security, privacy, and governance expectations.
- Continuously learn and apply emerging AI capabilities relevant to software testing, automation, API validation, and productivity improvement; prior AI experience is preferred but not required when the candidate demonstrates willingness and ability to learn.
- Provide project and task estimates, status reports, work instructions, training materials, and other assigned deliverables that support effective testing, automation, and AI-supported QA workflows.
Required Skills:
- Analytical and problem solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of source code for applications written in .Net, Java, or PHP, including debugging skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive quality improvements.
- Well organized work habits with attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to learn, evaluate, and responsibly use AI tools to improve software testing, automation, analysis, documentation, defect triage, reporting, and team productivity.
- Ability to create, configure, use, and improve AI agents or workflow assistants for recurring QA activities, while validating AI-generated outputs, protecting sensitive data, and applying sound engineering judgment.
- Demonstrated growth mindset and initiative to stay current with practical AI applications in software quality, including prompt writing, agent configuration, workflow automation, and integrating AI into daily work habits.
Required Experience:
1. Minimum Education (or Substitute experience) required:- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Minimum Experience required:
- 1+ years software development or 3+ years automated software testing experience, preferably with Visual Studio and
REST/SOAP.
- Experience working with automated test tools, preferably Visual Studio, Selenium, writing SQL queries, or Eclipse IDE.
- Experience with API/SDK/Web Application and Services testing, including static reviews, unit, module, performance, load, and integrated systems testing.
- Agile Test or Development experience preferred.
- Exposure to AI-enabled development, testing, coding, or agent tools is preferred; candidates without AI experience must demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn and apply AI responsibly in the testing workflow.
ISTQB CTFL
(Certified Tester Foundation Level) or AI-related certification is preferred. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
