Norfolk, VA SUMMARY:
WR has an opportunity for a Software Test Engineer to support the design and testing of geospatial/geographic information systems (GIS) using advanced programming languages. Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: Supports geospatial-based software design and testing with an emphasis on: Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) Backend logic and databases Conducts software testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning. Supports the evaluation and validation of software functionality and performance. Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience: Bachelor of Science degree, conferred or currently in the final year of a program, in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related scientific discipline. Three (3)+ years of Software Test Engineer experience. Strong understanding of advanced programming concepts, including: Object-oriented programming Design patterns Multi-threading Inter-process communication Buffering Persistence Solid understanding of data filtering, present-time filtering, future-time predictions, and interpolation/smoothing methods. Ability to conduct performance tuning and debugging. Experience with C++, C#, and/or Python programming. Knowledge of technologies such as ASP.NET, Blazor, .NET Core, and Mono is beneficial. Proficiency in a high-level programming language, with C++ and/or C# preferred. The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment third-party background check which may include verification of any of the following: Employment history; Education and/or certifications; Criminal history; Driving Records; Other records or information related to the candidate's suitability for the position.
Position Salary Range:
$104,000 - $133,000. The listed salary range represents the typical range for this position. WR bases the offered salary on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, knowledge, and skills, scope and responsibilities of the position, and market and business considerations.
