This is an independent contractor position that is ideal for someone who is comfortable leading a room, following detailed testing procedures, and creating a calm, organized environment for students. Seven Points Prep is seeking a reliable, professional, and student-focused Standardized Test Proctor to oversee small-group practice and standardized testing sessions at our office. This is an independent contractor position that is ideal for someone who is comfortable leading a room, following detailed testing procedures, and creating a calm, organized environment for students. Schedule Testing sessions are held primarily on Saturdays during the SAT testing season, although work is not guaranteed every Saturday. Occasional Sunday opportunities may also be available based on scheduling and contractor availability. Typical Saturday hours are approximately 8:00 AM-11:30 AM. Compensation $20-$25 per hour, depending on experience. Responsibilities The Standardized Test Proctor will be responsible for: Arriving early, prepared, and on time for each assigned testing session Setting up the testing room before students arrive Greeting students and taking attendance Ensuring students are seated in the appropriate locations Distributing and collecting scratch paper and other testing materials Reading standardized instructions aloud from a provided testing script Clearly communicating directions to small groups of students Accurately timing each section of the test and following the provided testing schedule Maintaining a quiet, professional, and distraction-free testing environment Monitoring students throughout testing to ensure testing procedures are followed Supervising scheduled student breaks and ensuring students return promptly Remaining in the testing room for the duration of the testing session Collecting materials and leaving the testing space organized at the conclusion of the session Communicating any testing irregularities, student concerns, or other issues to Seven Points Prep staff Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: Experience working with middle school and/or high school students Experience managing or supervising small groups Comfort with public speaking, reading instructions aloud, and giving clear verbal directions Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written procedures precisely Excellent punctuality, reliability, and time-management skills A calm, professional presence and the ability to maintain order without creating an unnecessarily stressful testing environment The ability to remain attentive and available throughout a multi-hour testing session Reliable transportation and the ability to travel independently to the testing location Previous experience with standardized testing, education, tutoring, classroom management, substitute teaching, camp counseling, youth programming, or test administration is a plus, but not required. During Testing Because maintaining an appropriate testing environment is essential, proctors must remain in the testing room while students are testing. During longer testing periods, proctors may engage in a quiet, non-distracting activity, such as reading, knitting, or similar activities, provided they remain attentive to the room and students. Activities that could interfere with monitoring or distract students are not permitted. This includes extensive computer work, phone use, videos, phone calls, or other activities requiring significant attention. Eating should be limited to designated break periods. Additional Information This is an independent contractor opportunity. Contractors are responsible for their own transportation to and from the testing location. Assignments will be offered based on the testing calendar and Seven Points Prep's scheduling needs.
