- $138,370 The incumbent will be responsible for serving as a Statistician (Data Scientist).
Qualifications:
All applicants for this position must possess one of the following basic requirements: A.Degree:
that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing. OR B. Combination of education and experience- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

). In addition to meeting the basic eligibility requirements, applicants must have the following specialized experience. At the GS-11 level , you must meet one of the following qualifications: A. Three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education (54 semester hours, 81 quarter hours or the equivalent) leading to a to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in statistics, or other directly related field of study if it provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. OR B. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes: 1) Assist in researching and applying basic statistical and/or mathematical techniques under the guidance of others; 2) assist in preparing or supporting the development of statistical and/or mathematical risk models and analytical methods as well as refining models; 3) participate in meetings with team members or management to discuss and document methods and results related to statistics, risk, or analytical models; 4) prepare draft reports, summaries, or visualizations that communicate the results of statistical or analytical work to others. OR C. A Combination of education and experience as listed above. At the GS- 12 level, you must meet the following qualification: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level.
- 13 level, you must meet the following qualification: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level.
