WCAS Statistics & Data Science The Department of Statistics and Data Science at Northwestern University invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position. Primary duties include conducting research, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics and data science, advising and mentoring students, and providing service to the department, the college, and the university. A Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Preferred research areas include machine learning, modern causal inference, and other emerging topics in data science/AI. Exceptional candidates in any area of statistics and data science will be considered. Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2026, and will continue until the positions are filled. Appointments are expected to start in September 2027. Salary The expected base pay range for this position is $115,000 - $150,000. This base pay range is for a nine-month academic appointment, does not include summer salary, and is subject to negotiation. Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal comparators; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
