About the Role Environmental Management Services, Inc. (EMS) is seeking an experienced Mid-to-Senior Level Environmental Data Manager / Statistician to join our team supporting a wide range of civil engineering and environmental consulting projects for private, industrial, commercial, and governmental clients across the Southeastern United States. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who thrives on data-driven decision making, statistical analysis, quality assurance of environmental datasets, and technical leadership. You will play a key role in managing environmental data systems, performing advanced statistical evaluations, supporting regulatory compliance through defensible data analysis, and delivering high-impact insights that guide site investigations, remediation, and compliance programs. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain environmental data management systems and databases for groundwater, soil, surface water, stormwater, and remediation monitoring programs. Perform advanced statistical analyses of environmental datasets, including trend analysis, spatial statistics, hypothesis testing, and regulatory statistical evaluations (e.g., groundwater statistical comparisons, background determination). Develop and maintain data quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures, validation protocols, and data integrity standards for field and laboratory data. Prepare high-quality technical deliverables including statistical analysis reports, data validation summaries, groundwater monitoring reports, and supporting documentation for regulatory submittals. Support NPDES, RCRA, CERCLA, and UST-related projects through rigorous data analysis, interpretation, and visualization. Create clear data visualizations, dashboards, and summary tables to communicate complex environmental trends and findings to technical and non-technical audiences. Coordinate with field staff, laboratories, and project managers to ensure timely, accurate data collection, entry, and reporting. Assist in the development and review of sampling and analysis plans, quality assurance project plans (QAPPs), and data management plans. Provide technical support for remediation system performance evaluation, including statistical assessment of treatment effectiveness and optimization recommendations. Mentor junior staff on data management best practices, statistical methods, and technical writing standards. Track project data deliverables, schedules, and quality metrics while proactively identifying and resolving data-related issues. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Data Science, or a closely related field. Master's degree preferred. 5-7+ years of relevant experience in environmental data management, statistical analysis, or environmental consulting. Demonstrated proficiency with statistical software and tools (e.g., R, Python, SAS, Minitab, or equivalent) and environmental data management platforms. Strong technical writing, data visualization, problem-solving, and professional communication skills. Experience with environmental regulations and the statistical requirements of groundwater monitoring, RCRA, CERCLA, or similar programs. Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally to project sites or client meetings as needed. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Statistics, Biostatistics, Environmental Science, or related discipline. Hands-on experience with groundwater statistical analysis software (e.g., Sanitas, DUMPStat, or similar) and regulatory statistical methods. Proficiency with GIS tools (Arc

GIS, QGIS

) and spatial statistical methods. Experience designing and implementing data management workflows, databases (SQL or similar), and automated reporting pipelines. Familiarity with laboratory data packages, electronic data deliverables (EDDs), and data validation procedures. Prior experience in environmental consulting or at a regulatory agency. Professional certification or licensure (e.g., P.G., P.E., or relevant data/statistics credentials) is a plus.
