Job Summary The University of Michigan Health System is home to multiple Collaborative Quality Initiatives (CQIs) coordinating centers which seek to address some of the most common, complex, and costly areas of surgical and medical care. With funding from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM), the CQIs work collaboratively with health care providers throughout Michigan to collect data to a centralized registry. The data are analyzed and shared to identify processes that lead to improved delivery of care and outcomes, and guide quality improvement interventions. The Obstetric Initiative (OBI) is a CQI working with over 65 Michigan hospitals. OBI is working to address variation in obstetric care with a first initiative of supporting vaginal birth and safely lowering the cesarean delivery rate among low-risk patients. We are looking for a team-oriented person to join our team in the role of Senior Data Analyst. Responsibilities• Data Analytics Perform descriptive and model-based analyses to support OBI?s clinical and quality improvement projects. Identifying the analytic needs of quality improvement questions?when posed in non-statistical terms?and designing analyses that provide meaningful, actionable answers. Explain complex statistical techniques verbally and in writing for non-technical audiences. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians and administrators, to complete complex projects. Adhere to team-standardized coding practices and maintain clear, well-documented README files to ensure reproducibility and support ongoing process improvement. Manage data from multiple sources with high integrity and reproducibility Apply appropriate analytic approaches tailored to each project?s needs. Reporting Develop clean, intuitive visualizations?both static and interactive?for OBI stakeholders. Prepare templated and standardized reports for BCBS deliverables. Produce one off and scalable customized reports for participating hospitals. Deliver clear interpretations and actionable recommendations to the OBI Coordinating Center based on analytic outputs. Research Support Contribute to the analytic design of scientific publications and abstracts. Provide analytic support for grant submissions. Other Duties as Assigned Required Qualifications•

Senior Level:

Bachelor?s degree in a recognized field of science or related discipline. Extensive knowledge of healthcare data types, clinical topics, and scientific approaches. Proficiency with R (preferred) or Python for data management and statistical analysis. Strong knowledge of data visualization and reporting, with the ability to create actionable reports at scale. Extensive experience with large healthcare data sets including insurance claims data and clinical registries. Experience writing reproducible code. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 3?5 years of professional experience in healthcare data analytics.

Intermediate Level:

Bachelor?s degree in a recognized field of science or related discipline. Extensive knowledge of healthcare data types, clinical topics, and scientific approaches. Proficiency with R (preferred) or Python for data management and statistical analysis. Strong knowledge of data visualization and reporting, with the ability to create actionable reports at scale. Experience writing reproducible code. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 1-3 years of professional experience in healthcare data analytics. Desired Qualifications• Experience working with BCBSM funded CQIs . Experience with R package development. Experience with modular code. Experience with version control software (such as Git).
