Situational Only The United States Space Command (USSPACECOM) in Huntsville, AL is searching for a well-qualified candidate to fill a Weapon Systems Operations Analyst within the Logistics and Engineering Directorate. Description of Position:
Analyzes maintenance requirements and sustainment concerns for
USSPACECOM
weapon systems, repair part sources, maintenance procedures, and any limiting factors.
Position Responsibilities:
Assesses the overall sustainment of space weapon systems across multiple service components and units. Develops and maintains guidelines to maximize equipment availability and readiness, support the sustainment activities of supported and subordinate units, and ensures that sustainment approaches are effective across the Joint Logistics Enterprise (JLENT). Ties the sustainment of weapons systems to operational effectiveness of current and future space units. Performs a broad range of weapons systems analysis assignments, developing methodologies for and evaluating the effectiveness of weapons systems aimed at overall mission readiness. Engages with commercial, academic and governmental organizations to solve complex logistics and sustainment challenges of
USSPACECOM.
Assesses sustainment risks for
USSPACECOM
weapon systems and mission sets and informs
USSPACECOM
leadership of risks. Analyzes and provides input to the Planning, Programming and Budgeting System (PPBS) to include providing updates on Service Program Objective Memorandums (POMs). Advocates for
USSPACECOM
Service Components on any resource, support or capability deficiencies. Uses technical expertise to shape logistics concept of operations for current/future capabilities for both terrestrial and on-orbit logistics and sustainment equities to include acquisition logistics planning. Works with / across Combatant Commands, Joint Staff, JLENT, Service Components, subordinate commands and internal planning / operations staffs to create and structure the Command's concept of logistics and account for impacts of contested logistics. Furnishes logistics and technical input for development of
USSPACECOM
operational concepts to execute
USSPACECOM
Unified Command Plan (UCP) and Operational Plans (OPLANS) in support of real-world and exercise operations.
Desired Skills/Expertise:
Extensive knowledge of a broad range of space weapon systems, capabilities, support or sustainment requirements, systems owner/operators, associated contract, and overall structure supporting national defense. Advanced knowledge of Logistics Core Functions, Classes of Supply and the Planning, Programming and Budgeting System (PPBS) of the Department of Defense. Comprehensive knowledge of policies, concepts, and procedures affecting logistics, acquisition, supply, inventory management, logistics planning and procurement functions. Ability to gather data, organize, lead or participate in special studies, and present findings across different organizations and commands to identify problems and develop innovative solutions. Ability to lead teams; originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects within established guidelines. Exceptional ability to solve broad organizational issues, implement strategic plans within and across organizational components, and ensure a cooperative teamwork environment. Advanced skill sufficient to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships with diverse groups and executive-level command management. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses, organizational and mission requirements (relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation). Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk). Previous experience at a Combatant Command and/or Service/The Joint Staff/OSD-level staff is highly desired.
Conditions of Employment :
Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance Position requires drug testing Occasional travel away from regular duty location may be required. May be required to work irregular duty hours including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). Employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position. •Value of Position (VOP): If your current basic salary is within the band, but above the stated VOP, your basic salary will not be reduced if you are selected for the position.
