MPS), specializing in web application development, business intelligence, data warehouse, systems integration, IT security and business analytics. We are currently seeking qualified candidates to work in our client's Rockville, MD office as a Sr. Software Configuration Manager/Build Engineer.
Description:
The Senior Software Configuration Manager (SCM)/ Build Engineer is a knowledgeable and seasoned individual in all facets of SCM & Build Engineering space, within a distributed environment. This individual will be assigned to an application team or teams and will be viewed as the authority of both SCM and Build aspects of the application(s) they support. The ideal candidate will be able to guide the application team(s) through the SCM process and perform the necessary builds for them and in addition they will be the key focal point in addressing any SCM and build related issues as they arise.

The ideal candidate will be very detailed-oriented and will continuously strive to improve and automate the client's SCM, build and build validation methods as well as the application delivery system.
Responsibilities/Essential Duties:
  • Will perform Change/Release/Build Management and Administration
  • Compile code and maintain development and test code baselines
  • Design/Develop/maintain build/deployment engines as required
  • Troubleshooting and other duties
  • Assist in Release and Deployment duties as needed
  • Interact and guide various projects within the application area they support
  • Serve as knowledge point to the application members they support
  • Mentor/train staff members as needed
  • Facilitate the resolution of any problems and keeps the appropriate staff members informed of progress
  • Identify, analyze and resolve problems
  • Promote and maintain a high quality, professional, service-oriented image among users
  • Provide an escalation route as required
Required Skills:
  • A Solid Understanding of Configuration Management best practice principles
  • Ability to assess quickly the current configuration management process
  • Ability to implement, train, and maintain configuration management process
  • 6-10 years direct work experience implementing SCM processes and tools in a web-based and client-server environment
  • Hands-on experience with various SCM tools i.e. StarTeam, PVCS-Dimensions, MKS IM & SI ClearCase/ClearQuest/UCM etc…
  • Hands-on experience in customizing SCM tools to reflect a process workflow by creating and maintaining UserExits/Triggers, User Roles, Notification mechanisms etc…
  • Hands-on experience with creating and/or customizing build automation tools on both the UNIX and
WINDOWS NT/XP
environment
  • Extensive experience (minimum 3 years) in Unix Shell (Korn/Bourne), Ant, Perl scripting languages
  • Thorough understanding of both UNIX and Windows OS platforms
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with technical project leads, developers, and QA team members
  • Mentor/train staff members as needed
  • Promote and maintain a high quality, professional, service-oriented image among users.
  • Troubleshooting and problem isolation skills as well as the ability to clearly communicate complex issues to coworkers (peers, developers, and managers)
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related disciplines
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in using StarTeam and StarTeam Administration
