Full Job Description Purpose Statement:
Under the supervision of an administrator, the Education Technologist is responsible for maintenance of agency technology infrastructure, tech support to agency staff, website design/maintenance/accessibility, data protection and development ofasynchronous and synchronous distance education. This position also includes other technology duties as assigned. This position reports to a SESA administrator.
Essential Functions:
1. Development and facilitation of staff technology skills: Work collaboratively with administrators and staff. Provide administrator with quarterly technology reports on agency productivity and patron use of resources (e.g., website data analysis, video conference data use, hardware, software,webinar data, loaner hardware program, online learning modules, other). Work with administrators to assess current and ongoing technology needs (e.g., technology support tickets, network, cyber security, risk management, hardware, software, technology related subscriptions and dues, professional services for contract work). Support use and access of current video conferencing software (e.g., asynchronous and synchronous meetings and webinars). Assist in development & management of data collection systems. 2. Research and implement distance education systems: Facilitate training or research professional development opportunities as needed for staff use of distance education systems for synchronous and asynchronous methods of technical assistance delivery. Actively promote and guide creation and development of education modules for distance education. Assess current distance learning system for accessibility (WCAG 2.1) and functionality. Provide technology and troubleshooting support for education specialists providing distance delivery consultations, trainings, webinars, and conferences. 3. Tech support, maintain network and employee devices : Ongoing maintenance, management and inventory of hardware, software, and other equipment with other agency staff. Troubleshoot hardware and software used in agency Maintain and improve databases, firewall, and systems (e.g., server, website) Maintain confidentiality of sensitive agency and employee information. Collaborate with contracted technology developers and SESA administrator to determine most appropriate scope of work to meet agency need and verify maintenance or custom development work completed. 4.
Professional Development:
Utilize online and distance resources to remain current with applicable technologies. Participate in, and at times lead, staff development in technological areas critical to operations of the agency. Review, attend and provide administrator with recommended free or paid for courses or training for SESA staff on agreed upon learning goals (e.g., cyber security, asynchronous and synchronous distance delivery methods, access agency software and hardware, website accessibility). 5.
Accessible Digital Educational Materials/Website Accessibility Leader:
Work that demonstrates all new and modified agency hosted web pages and digital educational materials are accessible. When funding and time allows, periodically enlist self-advocates of disability groups to test web pages for ease of use and then use the feedback to increase accessibility of the website. Work with supervisor to establish and annually update the agency accessible digital education materials creation plan with goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound. 6. Other Duties as Assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical training in educational technology or related field
Alaska Type A Teaching Certificate Certification:
CompTIA Certification A+ Core 1&2 V15 Help Desk Support Specialist Experience working with learners who experience a disability. At least two years' experience with distance education technologies and networking. Experience with group training of adults in technology and software application. Web site design and maintenance with emphasis on accessibility (WCAG 2.1) and accommodations. Experience implementing best practice in cybersecurity (NIST) and privacy standards (FERPA) in organization network and procedures. Strong organizational skills coupled with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with minimal supervision. Familiarity with automated backup technology, and other programs to meet agency needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred). Five years' experience with distance education technologies and IT/Networking.
Obtained Certification:
CompTIA Apple Training Products IT Support Specialist, CompTIA PC Pro, CompTIA Project + IT Project Manager, CompTIA DataSys+ Database Administrator Experience in video production and processing of video materials. Experience in cybersecurity and risk management design of agency network and operations Experience in
RISE 360
software, including design and management. Minimum two years' experience in web site design (e.g., WordPress, Wix) and database maintenance (e.g., FileMaker Pro) Experience with the education of individuals with disabilities. Experience assessing and producing instructional materials that adheres to accessibility standards ADA Section 508, WCAG 2.1, Rehabilitation Act). Experience with online accessibility tools (Chrome, Adobe Acrobat, WAVE) Experience operating assistive technologies (JAWS, NVDA, embossers, textbook conversions, speech recognition) Strong project management, interpersonal, and communication skills Desired Software and Hardware Proficiencies Web CMS Wix Hosting Platform Zoom Meeting & Webinar, Events Articulate
