  • Career Navigator to help students build pathways into high-demand careers in Information Technology.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by guiding students from their first connection with GCC through program completion and into the workforce. As a primary point of contact, the Career Navigator provides personalized support with admissions, financial aid, registration, scholarships, career planning, college resources, and retention. Using a case management approach, the Career Navigator builds relationships with students, tracks their progress, celebrates milestones, and helps them overcome barriers that could prevent them from reaching their educational and career goals. The position also connects GCC with the broader community by coordinating outreach, tours, hiring events, and employer partnerships. Working closely with faculty, college leadership, Student Affairs, industry partners, and district teams, the Career Navigator helps strengthen enrollment, student success, and employment outcomes. The role uses Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and student information systems to manage student caseloads, document services, analyze outcomes, and support institutional and grant reporting requirements. Additional Information This is a short-term (specially funded) position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027; the possibility for extension or continuation is dependent on executive approval and budget availability. Essential Functions 30%
  • Workforce-focused Advising and Success Coaching Provides academic advisement, career navigation, and success coaching to students following the initial admissions and enrollment process through program completion.
Provides support with registration, placement, financial aid, graduation, and transfer pathways. Evaluates prior coursework, interprets test scores, and assists students in navigating enrollment and program requirements. Uses proactive case-management strategies, including individual check-ins and progress monitoring. Identifies students at risk of dropping out or not completing and coordinates timely support with faculty and college departments. Collaborates with Career Services to assist with resume and interview preparation, hiring events, and connect students with work-based learning, internships, and employment opportunities. 25%
  • Recruitment, Outreach & Program Coordination Coordinates recruitment, outreach, orientations, workshops, and community engagement activities. Develops marketing and promotional materials, follows up with prospective students, and supports implementation of program goals and activities. 20%
  • Program Analysis, Data Management, and Compliance Collects, analyzes, and maintains student, program, and workforce data, including enrollment, retention, completion, transfer, and employment outcomes.
Conducts program research, identifies trends, and prepares reports, presentations, correspondence, and other documentation. Monitors key performance indicators to support program evaluation and continuous improvement. Maintains accurate records in accordance with college procedures, grant requirements, and applicable standards. Supports budget monitoring, grant and funding proposals, scholarship and credentialing processes, program communications, and other administrative requirements. 15%
  • Collaboration and Cross-Functional Coordination Works with faculty, program leadership, student services, and district teams to resolve student concerns, support program delivery, and ensure alignment with workforce and academic requirements.
This includes, but is not limited to, scheduling classes, instructors, equipment, rooms, and class supplies; employer partner presentations; virtual info sessions; and tours. 10%
  • Performs other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, business or public administration, or directly related field and two (2) years of related program management experience preferably in an educational setting.
OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications Experience working in a college environment such as admissions, records, academic advisement, career services, workforce office, and/or registration. Work experience in student advising, coaching, case management, or student success support in career related/workforce programs. Demonstrated ability to use Student Information Systems, CRM tools, dashboards, and spreadsheets Experience with recruitment, outreach, and enrollment strategies. Expertise in tracking, analyzing, and reporting student or program data, including enrollment, retention, completion, or employment outcomes. Demonstrated ability to coordinate events, engage employers, and develop partnerships. One year of full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two years. Special Working Conditions May be required to work some evenings and weekends. May need to work occasionally at an off-site location. This is a short-term position with a projected end date of June 30, 2027 with renewal contingent on funding source.
