Job Summary
The Software Analyst (Unity Catalog) will own the end-to-end process of collecting, validating, and uploading business definitions into Unity Catalog while improving the experience for participating business stakeholders. The role will support data governance and metadata management activities, coordinate multiple concurrent domain workstreams, maintain accurate tracking and documentation, and ensure business definitions are complete, consistently formatted, correctly attributed, and searchable within the catalog. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable working with non-technical business users in a fast-paced, cross-functional program environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assess the current Excel-based business definition collection process and identify friction points and opportunities for improvement.
- Design and implement intuitive intake experiences for business stakeholders, including improved templates, guided forms, or lightweight tooling.
- Document the end-to-end definition collection, review, approval, and Unity Catalog upload workflow.
- Maintain clear status tracking across active domain workstreams, including Communications, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Talent, and other domains.
- Proactively follow up with domain owners and data stewards to move definitions through review and approval.
- Escalate blockers and provide regular progress updates to program leadership.
- Execute uploads of validated business definitions into Unity Catalog with accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain quality standards by preventing duplicate definitions, ensuring consistent formatting, and verifying correct ownership attribution.
- Validate that uploaded business definitions are correctly surfaced and searchable within Unity Catalog.
- Conduct working sessions with business function teams to elicit, clarify, and validate business definitions.
- Serve as a consistent and helpful point of contact for business contributors to reduce confusion and increase participation.
- Coordinate activities across multiple concurrent workstreams and drive deliverables through completion. Required Qualifications
- Experience with data governance, metadata management, or data catalog tooling.
- Extremely strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy in data entry, definition formatting, and workstream tracking.
- Strong process orientation with the ability to map, improve, and execute repeatable workflows.
- Excellent stakeholder communication and follow-through skills.
- Ability to work effectively with non-technical business users to elicit and validate definitions.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel and lightweight data tooling.
- Ability to coordinate multiple priorities, workstreams, stakeholders, and timelines.
- Strong organizational skills and a detail-oriented, execution-focused approach. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Unity Catalog.
- Experience in data governance, metadata management, or data catalog implementations.
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced program environment with multiple parallel workstreams.
- Experience improving business processes and stakeholder intake workflows.
- Experience supporting cross-functional data governance initiatives.
