The RoleThe Role:
As a Technical Consultant (Migration Engineer) in the Shared Data/ODSP Factory, you will execute high‑volume tenant‑to‑tenant migration tasks for SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business. You will run migration jobs, monitor progress, resolve common errors using playbooks, complete validation checks and produce clean evidence for every migration wave. You will operate in a strict runbook environment across a 24x7 shift pattern and will be measured on throughput, accuracy and disciplined ticket/evidence practices. Key Responsibilities
  • Execute SharePoint/OneDrive migration runbooks for assigned scope: set up jobs, run pre‑checks, perform migrations and complete post‑validation
  • Monitor migration queues and long‑running jobs; detect and respond to throttling, failures and repeatable exception patterns
  • Remediate common issues (blocked files, permissions mapping errors, large items, metadata anomalies) using standard playbooks
  • Perform validation tasks: permissions sampling, metadata/version checks, link/sharing checks and user experience spot checks
  • Maintain excellent ticket hygiene: status updates, migration IDs/job references, time stamps and evidence attachments
  • Produce wave evidence packs aligned to programme governance (reports, exception lists, remediation notes)
  • Escalate complex issues with complete context and diagnostics; follow escalation etiquette and templates
  • Contribute to shift handover packs so that work is continued seamlessly by the next shift
  • Support periodic reporting activities: job completion counts, exceptions categories, throughput metrics.
Who You AreMust‑Have (or equivalent experience)
  • Delivered production tenant‑to‑tenant SharePoint Online and/or OneDrive migration execution work (hands‑on), not only planning
  • Strong working knowledge of SharePoint/OneDrive constructs relevant to migration (sites, libraries, permissions, sharing, metadata)
  • Experience using a recognised SharePoint/OneDrive migration toolset (e.g., ShareGate and/or Quest ODM or equivalent)
  • Comfort operating in a runbook‑driven, high‑volume factory model with strict execution discipline
  • Evidence capture discipline: able to produce repeatable proof packs and clear closure notes
  • Able to work shift patterns with mandatory handovers and queue/backlog execution.
Good‑to‑Have
  • Experience with Teams‑related shared content dependencies and basic awareness of sequencing constraints
  • PowerShell/Graph scripting for inventories, bulk checks and reporting
  • Microsoft 365 administration certification (e.g., MS‑102) or equivalent
  • Exposure to information governance considerations (retention, sensitivity labelling behaviour, access governance patterns).Interpersonal & Consulting Skills
  • Reliable execution under process: follows standards, flags deviation and avoids undocumented shortcuts
  • Clear communicator in tickets and handovers; writes notes that another engineer can action
  • Collaborative approach: supports peers, shares patterns and learns quickly from shift leads
  • Operates with professional judgement in client environments (security, access, confidentiality)
  • Comfortable with rapid delivery tempo and handling multiple work items concurrently
  • Proactive in raising risks early, with evidence and suggested options.
Typical Deliverables / KPIs
  • Throughput:
migrations completed per shift vs target
  • Rework:
reduction in retry/re‑run volumes; fewer preventable errors
  • MTTR:
time to remediate common exception types
  • Evidence:
completeness and accuracy of reports/logs attached to tickets
SLA:
adherence to wave schedules and timely escalation of blockers.

Shift / Working Pattern Notes
  • This role operates within a three‑shift 24x7 Factory model.
The specific rota will be confirmed, but shift handovers are mandatory and performance is measured on shift outcomes. Peak cutover windows may require schedule flexibility.
