Job Description

  • Introduction
  • The Software Strategy Consultant is responsible for using data to develop insights in support of strategic projects for executive leaders in IBM Software.
The objective of these engagements is to accelerate IBM's Hybrid Cloud and AI strategy. The consultant uses AI, data/analytics, benchmarking, research and other techniques to design strategies and transition rapidly to execution for immediate impact. Successful engagements will help drive sustainable software revenue growth and accelerate client adoption of IBM software platforms. The consultant should excel at quantitative analysis - including the use of AI and data science tools -- to assess growth opportunities, identify root causes and solve business problems. The consultant will also have a strong background in technology and the business of software. Over time, based on the quality and impact of their work, the consultant should aspire to become a trusted advisor to IBM Software leaders.
  • Your role and responsibilities
  • Responsibilities of the consultant include to:
  • Lead data analysis, quantitative modeling, market analysis, competitive benchmarking, interviews, operational analysis and root cause identification
  • Formulate decision-ready recommendations for senior business leaders
  • Support strategic discussions with senior software executives
  • Structure and support change initiatives to deliver targeted business outcomes
  • Support their teammates as needed to deliver commitments to clients
  • Meet the planning, control, and administration of assigned projectsUltimately, the Consultant should be a role model of how to deliver strategy projects that drive business outcomes with speed and precision.
Key Skills and BehaviorsData and analytics: Deep skills and understanding of data and analytical methods to yield strategic insight, including root cause and statistical analyses. This includes advanced use of AI, Excel and data science methods and tools (e.g., SQL, etc.)
Technology/Software:
A background in technology, with software experience strongly preferred. And a passion for technology and growing a software business.
Structured Thinking:
Ability to develop frameworks that integrate data to decompose and address unstructured challenges
Speed:
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-threaded work environment
Ownership:
Take ownership for the outcomes of projects and ensure alignment of the same to IBM's strategies, objectives and values
Communications:
Outstanding oral and written communication skills as demonstrated through prior work and educational experience
Openness & Teamwork:
Maintain positive relationships and strong teamwork with peers, management, and clients. Willingly "give back" to improve the team
Innovation:
Relentless curiosity and a drive to innovate and use AI/technology to continuously improve the methods and outcomes used in their work

The location for this position will join the Cambridge, MA office of IBM Software
  • Required technical and professional expertise
  • Experience in Strategy Consulting, Software, Banking/Finance, Data Science
  • A technical or quantitative undergraduate degree
  • Preferred technical and professional experience
