OVERVIEW OF POSITION
Reports under the Director of Information Technology to coordinate, manage, and execute ACPS employee and student data initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant should possess the following skills, knowledge and abilities in order to meet the minimum requirements for the position:
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline preferred; or equivalent professional experience in data and systems analysis accepted in lieu of a degree. Autonomy & Independent Execution
Self-Directed Execution:
Proven ability to work with high autonomy, managing tasks independently from initial requirements gathering through to final deployment and maintenance with minimal day-to-day supervision.
Independent Problem Solving:
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to autonomously diagnose, debug, and resolve complex data integration or workflow automation issues. Targeted Collaboration & Communication
Cross-Functional Communication:
Ability to step out of independent work to communicate confidently with business and educational leadership (e.g., HR, Finance, Administration) regarding data needs, while seamlessly collaborating with internal IT technical staff on backend execution.
Technical-to-Business Translation:
Skilled at independently gathering requirements from non-technical staff and translating them into clear technical specifications, as well as explaining complex system logic or data constraints back to leadership in plain language. Vendor Coordination
Vendor Technical Liaison:
Experience acting as the primary technical point of contact with ERP, SIS, and third-party software vendors to troubleshoot system issues, clarify API configurations, and track critical bug fixes.
Issue Documentation & Escalation:
Ability to independently document, articulate, and escalate system failures or integration issues to vendor support teams to ensure timely resolution.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Workflow Automation & Lifecycle Management:
Introduce, design, and build advanced automated workflows to streamline critical employee and student lifecycles, including onboarding, offboarding, and transfers, etc.
Cross-Functional Staff Notifications:
Integrate automated notification triggers within data workflows to instantly alert required staff when personnel or student records must be updated during onboarding, offboarding, or transfer events.
Application Development & Testing:
Develop, test, and deploy custom applications, code modifications, and system integrations tailored to support school data initiatives.
Production Deployment:
Promote verified data workflows, notification scripts, and automation sequences from testing environments into live production systems following change-management protocols.
Relational Database Design:
Perform advanced analytical work to design, configure, and optimize relational database systems housing sensitive student information and personnel records.
Requirements Gathering & Data Modeling:
Interview stakeholders to translate school administration needs into actionable data models, automated system designs, and data processing workflows.
Database Administration & Security:
Oversee database performance tuning and establish secure backup and recovery procedures to ensure the continuous availability of critical staff and student data.
System Maintenance & Code Analysis:
Quickly interpret unfamiliar program code and file structures to troubleshoot, update, and maintain legacy data systems.
Data Validation & Quality Assurance:
Conduct rigorous QA and testing on all automated workflows, lifecycle triggers, and data developments to enforce strict compliance.
Reporting & Analytics:
Generate complex ad-hoc reports, conduct deep-dive data analyses, and author technical documentation and end-user training materials for school staff. Other Duties as assigned.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Educational Domain Knowledge:
Familiarity with school administration workflows, specifically regarding employee and student data lifecycles.
Database Management:
Experience supporting database systems that house sensitive student and personnel records.
Application Ownership:
Prior experience managing core application systems dedicated to HR, student information (SIS), or data analytics.
Systems Integration:
Proven track record in multi-platform data integration and conversion initiatives, ensuring seamless data flow between student and employee systems.
Project Execution:
Strong organizational skills to manage complex data schedules, compliance deadlines, and reporting timelines.
Autonomy & Agility:
Ability to drive data initiatives independently with minimal guidance, with the flexibility to adapt to shifting project demands.
