Chestnut Street, Winston-Salem, NC Job Type Full Time Job Number 08882 Department Management Information Services Opening Date 05/20/2026 Closing Date 5/31/2026 11:59 PM Eastern Description Benefits Questions General Statement of Duties Forsyth County Management Information Services is seeking a highly motivated, dependable professional PC Analyst with exceptional communication and technical skills to work with the Applied Technologies team. The successful candidate will have considerable knowledge of how technology can be integrated into the public sector environment for a variety of applications and purposes. Having the ability to plan and coordinate PC deployments, software installations, and related tasks will make this position engaging. Diagnosing and solving computer hardware\software issues will ensure that this position is very dynamic with new challenges each day. Experience with packaging and pushing out software, updates, and operating systems in an enterprise environment is a plus. Distinguishing Features A successful employee should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Considerable knowledge of IBM compatible microcomputer hardware, including the ability to diagnose hardware malfunctions and to perform board-level repairs. Working knowledge of applications software. Working knowledge of system software and operating environments. Working knowledge of local area networks. Working knowledge of PC disk storage subsystems, and the ability to retrieve lost and corrupted data. Ability to support applications software and to diagnose and correct software problems. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, technical issues to non- technical users. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and to manage time effectively. Minimum Education and Experience Graduation from a four-year college with course work in computer science, or related field, and three years PC hardware and software related experience. Prefer vendor certifications in hardware maintenance, host connectivity and local area networking. Must have a valid driver's license. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for minimum qualifications requirements. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the U.S. Department of Justice's Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check. Applicants for this position will complete the CJIS background check at the time of an interview as a part of the recruitment process. Completion does not guarantee an offer of employment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Configures, assembles, tests, and installs new PC's; maintains existing PC's; and diagnoses and repairs hardware and software malfunctions. Evaluates new PC-related hardware and software technology for applicability to County needs, and makes recommendations. Advises and consults with departments concerning acquisition and integration of technology with existing operations. Assists departments in developing budget requests for PC-related technology. Assists departments in determining their PC needs, and in the acquisition of software to meet those needs. Assists users with software questions regarding procedures and applications, including backup procedures for micros.
