Job Purpose:

The Laboratory IT analyst performs and monitors Laboratory Computer operations and production functions; monitors and supports Laboratory reporting functions and equipment; performs routine hardware and software maintenance, including file definition for all Laboratory departments and instruments; performs daily, weekly and monthly backups of the system; performs historical data functions; uses medical technology knowledge to promote laboratory operations into information systems applications. Performs and reviews various system backups and routine hardware and software maintenance. Responsible for all aspects of patient reporting with emphasis on physician electronic medical records (eMR's): as well as hardware and software upgrades and maintenance.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related science, or Bachelor's Degree in

Information Technology Preferred:

BSMT / ASCP

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Prefers possession of current registration certificate for licensure with the NYS Education Department as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

Experience:

Previous laboratory experience preferred. Experience with clinical systems in a complex healthcare setting, CPT coding and HL7 knowledge preferred.

Preferred:

One year prior experience.
