Description Job Summary:
The Data Technician supports the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Bucks IU data systems, databases, and data lake environments. This entry-level role assists with data processing, validation, documentation, and user support to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable data for Bucks IU and its constituent districts. Under the guidance of senior data and technology staff, the Data Technician helps maintain data systems, supports end users, and assists with routine data tasks and system updates while developing technical skills and familiarity with enterprise data platforms. Essential Functions:
Work with departments across Bucks IU to gather and document data needs and operational requirements, escalating complex issues to senior staff. Assist with basic data analysis and quality checks, helping identify discrepancies, errors, or inconsistencies in data. Support the maintenance of databases and data dictionary documentation under the direction of senior data staff. Assist in the maintenance and support enterprise data analysis and reporting tools. Analyze, develop, and maintain automation scripts. Translate requirements of clients into workable deliverables to ensure technical functionality and business compatibility. Assist in the testing of data solutions and systems. Provide day-to-day technical support and basic troubleshooting for data systems to IU staff and contracted clients, escalating advanced issues as needed Provide technical support, training, guidance, and resource support for end users and contracted clients. Creates and maintains user documentation and procedures that impact the use of application systems. Assist with the creation and execution of technical bids and service contracts. Provide assistance to network and system administrators with testing and installation. Provide on-site and remote technical support; provide emergency on-call support for on-site and remote technical issues 24/7/365, as needed. Serve as liaison with technical vendors, contractors, consultants, and service providers. Present at/represent Bucks IU at regional, statewide, and national events, conferences, and workshops. Seek new and innovative ways to develop and deploy technical services for Bucks IU and countywide stakeholders. Provide technical support contact for conference rooms, audio visual equipment, and video conferencing systems, as needed. Provide timely recommendations to improve technical services. Lead enterprise technical initiatives and projects according to specified budgets, timelines, and expectations. Perform system and device installation within Bucks IU, its offsite locations, and school districts, as required. Identify computer-related problems and provide solutions, via telephone, personal contact, or remote diagnosis, for all IU staff users (help desk, software, and hardware questions). Interpret, assimilate, and utilize technical information relative to networks, hardware, software, and peripheral equipment. Supervisory Responsibility:

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, 260-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work may vary based on position and division but generally are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel:
Travel throughout the county may be required. This position may require the operation of a Bucks IU vehicle in the course of assigned duties. Employees who may be required to drive a Bucks IU vehicle must: Possess and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver's license Maintain a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) clear of violations (per the recommended guidelines and at the discretion of the Bucks IU) Qualifications Education and Experience:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
In depth knowledge of using data analysis and business intelligence tools to enhance data visualization and analytics. In depth knowledge of application development processes and project management. In depth knowledge of SharePoint and SharePoint Online deployment, configuration, management, workflows, and customization. In depth knowledge of Tableau and other business intelligence and analytics software platforms. Experience leveraging business intelligence tools to collect, analyzing, create, and share data insight. Experience with PowerShell, Batch, Visual Basic, Ruby, and other scripting languages. Experience coordination data translations between systems; including methods using JSON, XML, CSV, etc., along with direct API access. Experience with common development processes, including code versioning, retention, test case, validation, verification, documentation, branch/commit/merge, and the development lifecycle. Excellent organizational, project planning, and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Technical aptitude for computer equipment, especially relating to networks, servers, user devices, personal computing devices, and Macintosh and Windows Operating Systems. Ability to develop and present demonstration material to groups and individuals. Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
