Job Summary Provide full performance support of a mainframe and/or computer-based management information systems section fora division. Job Description Overview The Information Technology Analyst II assists, supports, and provides expertise in the maintenance and support of all computers and IT systems. Identifies and resolves business problems requiring the integration of mainframe and computer hardware and software systems to provide solutions to management questions. Essential Functions 1 Programs mainframe and computers and provides customized data processing reports to assist management in making decisions; analyzes IT solutions and software, identifies issues or needs, and reports on findings; makes recommendations for effective solutions. 2 Develops computer-based solutions to address management problems or information requests; maintains specific system for various departments and provides troubleshooting and problem resolution. 3 Confers, communicates, and collaborates with department personnel to determine hardware and software required to address needs, suggests plans to reallocate existing equipment, and ensures the purchase of additional or replacement equipment. 4 Provides on-site maintenance and repair of computer and LAN hardware and software to ensure availability of functional equipment and to reduce costs under service agreements; makes recommendations regarding renewals of service agreements. 5 Trains and teaches employees in the use of computer hardware and software as new staff is hired or new systems are installed to maximize the utilization of computer equipment and the effectiveness of established systems; provides technical assistance and expertise to lower level programmers and analysts. 6 Establishes and maintains security procedures for divisions to prevent unauthorized access to systems; identifies risk areas and recommends solutions to address. 7 Maintains database, mainframe, and software information in order to maximize the accuracy and safety of management information and to improve the degree to which data may be retrieved. 8 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned. Knowledge and Skills 1 Knowledge of at least one mainframe computer programming language. 2 Knowledge of one or more computer spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications. 3 Knowledge of computer and LAN operating systems, hardware, and software applications. 4 Knowledge of client server based programs. 5 Ability to advise others and make recommendations on hardware and software technology. 6 Ability to analyze information logically and propose solutions to business problems. 7 Communicating effectively verbally and in writing 8 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in an Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, or Information Technology related field .
EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of experience working with computer systems, information technology, or technology analysis.
EQUIVALENCIES
High school diploma/GED plus five (5) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements. Associate degree in a specified field plus three (3) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements. Associate degree (or higher) in a non-specified field plus four (4) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
