Position Overview:
The IT & Automation Intern will support the Firm's day-to-day technology needs while helping advance Microsoft 365 administration, documentation, process improvement, artificial intelligence, and automation initiatives. This position is designed to complement the Firm's existing IT support resources by bringing strong organization, follow-through, documentation, Microsoft account and permissions knowledge, and enthusiasm for testing and developing practical technology solutions. The intern will work closely with internal leadership, staff, and technology providers to help ensure that technology processes are documented, user access is organized, projects move forward, and new tools are thoughtfully evaluated. This is a supervised, hands-on internship with the potential to grow into a permanent role for the right candidate.
Daily Contributions:
  • Provide first-level support for routine technology questions involving computers, printers, software, and Microsoft 365 applications; escalate technical or network issues as appropriate.
  • Log, organize, track, and follow up on IT support requests, outstanding issues, technology projects, and vendor communications.
  • Assist with Microsoft 365 user administration, including employee account setup and deactivation, license assignments, password and access support, distribution lists, shared mailboxes, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and other approved access requests.
  • Help maintain user permissions, security groups, and access records in accordance with firm procedures and management approval.
  • Prepare technology equipment and follow established onboarding and offboarding checklists for employees.
  • Create and maintain clear IT documentation, including process guides, user instructions, troubleshooting resources, technology inventories, project trackers, and checklists.
  • Support the organization and maintenance of records related to technology equipment, software licenses, user access, procedures, and recurring IT tasks.
  • Help identify repetitive manual processes and assist with documenting requirements for automation opportunities.
  • Build, test, and document Power Automate workflows under supervision.
  • Research, test, and help develop approved AI tools, AI agents, prompts, and workflows that may improve firm operations, client service, internal communication, or administrative efficiency.
  • Document AI testing results, identify potential risks or limitations, and help create practical guidance for responsible use of AI tools within the Firm.
  • Participate in technology rollouts, process improvement initiatives, staff training support, and other projects as assigned.
  • Follow all Firm policies related to confidentiality, cybersecurity, data privacy, access control, and responsible use of technology and AI.
Internship Learning Goals:
  • Gain practical experience supporting Microsoft 365 users, accounts, licenses, permissions, collaboration tools, and onboarding/offboarding processes.
  • Develop confidence using Microsoft 365 applications and administration tools, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Excel, Word, and related platforms.
  • Build experience creating organized, user-friendly technology documentation and process materials.
  • Learn how IT requests, projects, vendor relationships, and technology follow-up are managed in a professional services environment.
  • Gain hands-on exposure to Power BI reporting, data validation, and dashboard maintenance.
  • Learn to identify, document, test, and improve opportunities for workflow automation using Power Automate and related tools.
  • Develop applied knowledge of AI, prompt development, AI agents, responsible AI use, testing methods, and practical business applications.
  • Strengthen professional communication, problem-solving, task management, and data security awareness. Key Skills and Attributes
  • Interest in Microsoft 365 administration, user access and permissions, AI, automation, reporting, and process improvement.
  • Foundational knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Familiarity with, or eagerness to learn, Power BI, Power Automate, AI tools, prompt development, and AI agents.
  • Strong attention to detail and a natural ability to organize information, keep records current, and follow through on open items.
  • Ability to create clear written documentation, instructions, checklists, and status updates.
  • Comfortable assisting non-technical users with patience, professionalism, and clear communication.
  • Curious, self-motivated, and eager to test new tools while following established procedures and security requirements.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks, meet deadlines, ask thoughtful questions, and accept feedback.
  • Sound judgment regarding confidential information, access controls, and responsible technology use.
Education and Experience:
  • Currently pursuing, or recently completed, coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Accounting Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Prior professional IT experience is not required. Relevant coursework, certifications, personal projects, internships, technical support experience, or demonstrated experience with Microsoft tools, AI, automation, or reporting will be considered.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration, Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, AI tools, or help desk processes is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience in a professional services, accounting, or office environment is helpful but not required.
Pay:
$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
