must be eligible to obtain/maintain a DOD Secret clearance Role Overview We are seeking a Distributed Systems Engineer to support enterprise network and telecommunications implementation projects. This role involves hands-on installation, deployment, documentation, testing, and support of network infrastructure components while working closely with engineering teams, project managers, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate has experience with structured cabling, network hardware installations, and infrastructure deployments in a professional environment. Key Responsibilities Support basic installation of equipment and infrastructure, including rack and stack of new network equipment, installation and activation of UPS and PDUs, access points, patch panels, and associated CAT-6 cabling. Install new or upgraded technologies under the guidance of more experienced team members. Document findings from fieldwork and report any issues that affect project progress to senior staff. Support equipment assessments and provide preliminary observations for review. Participate in training sessions to learn product features and specifications and share basic information with customers when needed. Assist with coordinating site access, equipment readiness, and schedule alignment with Government Points of Contact (POCs) as directed. Provide technical input related to ISP/OSP activities and help gather information needed for design recommendations. Participate as a member of small implementation teams, focusing on assigned tasks. Assist with technical, administrative, and operational tasks for assigned projects. Update network documentation and as-built records based on splicing and testing results. Contribute to the development of deliverables by preparing drafts or collecting required information. Follow quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy in project outputs.

Required Qualifications Education & Experience:

A bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or 2+ years of related experience.

Technical Skills:

Experience with CAT5e/CAT6 cabling, termination, patching, labeling, and cable management. Familiarity with distribution systems (ISP/OSP) design and implementation documents. Familiarity with network hardware installations, including switches, patch panels, racks, UPS systems, and wireless access points. Ability to interpret technical documentation, floor plans, diagrams, and installation instructions. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Familiar with all aspects of fiber testing. Strong commitment to a team environment and the ability to work collaboratively. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure deployment projects. Experience using MS Visio or related CAD tools. Familiarity with ISP/OSP environments, fiber infrastructure, or telecommunications projects. Knowledge of network testing, certification, and documentation procedures. Experience working with government customers or regulated environments. BICSI related certifications.
