LAWA IMT

is seeking to hire a Communications Engineering Associate IV to support engineering and planning efforts for the fiber backbone network. The network includes more than 70,000 fiber strands, 2,000 fiber patch panels, and 2,900 assigned fiber circuits across

LAX, VNY

Airports, and the Van Nuys Fly Away. Candidates should have knowledge of fiber circuit design and installation, fiber database recordkeeping, technical document development and maintenance, and basic fiber cable principles. The selected candidate will work closely with contractors to support accurate recordkeeping and fiber circuit design and will serve on call as needed. This role also requires staying current with advances in fiber cables, patch panels, test equipment, industry standards, and best practices to develop subject matter expertise. In addition, the candidate will have opportunities to broaden their technical knowledge by supporting other airport IT systems that rely on fiber connectivity.

MUST MEET MINIMUM BULLETIN REQUIREMENTS 1.

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in engineering, which includes at least 24 semester units or 36 quarter units of communications engineering or electrical engineering courses; or 2. Possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training Certificate (EIT) recognized by the State of California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.
