Job Description

CenCore is seeking a Telecommunications Network Engineer to support the maintenance, sustainment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of existing data and voice networks. This role helps identify, diagnose, document, resolve, or escalate routine network issues using established scripts, procedures, test equipment, and network analysis tools. The position supports mission-critical network reliability by monitoring alarms, executing scheduled maintenance routines, and coordinating with users and network vendors as needed. This is a Level 0 network engineering role requiring foundational experience, an IAT Level II baseline certification, and an active TS/SCI full scope polygraph clearance. Key Responsibilities Monitor data and voice system networks for messages, alarms, issues, and routine operational events. Confirm the accuracy and severity of network alarms, messages, or issues and initiate resolution or escalation as appropriate. Resolve routine network problems using network analyzers, WAN test equipment, network simulators, scripts, and standard procedures. Troubleshoot problems using predefined procedures and research issues to determine whether they can be resolved through standard workflows. Perform first- and second-level problem determination, including issues escalated beyond help desk support. Execute scheduled network maintenance routines in accordance with standard procedures. Activate and deactivate network lines according to established schedules. Document issues, troubleshooting results, actions taken, resolutions, and escalations. Communicate alarm activity, network issues, and resulting actions to appropriate stakeholders. Interface with users and network vendors while following detailed work instructions. Required Qualifications Two years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. Associate's degree in engineering technology from an accredited college; two additional years of network engineering experience may be substituted for the associate's degree. IAT Level II baseline certification as defined by DoD 8570.01-M. Active TS/SCI polygraph clearance. Ability to perform routine network troubleshooting, monitoring, maintenance, documentation, and escalation. Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures. U.S. citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications Experience installing or configuring network devices such as firewalls, switches, routers, cabling, Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper devices. Experience supporting WAN technologies including SONET, OC3, OC48, OC192, DS3, T1, or similar network transport technologies. Experience with TACLANE / KG-175 or similar encryption devices. Experience with MPLS, BGP, VPNs, or related network technologies. CompTIA Network+, CCENT, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent certification.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements This role is performed in a professional office or operations-center environment supporting existing data and voice networks. Duties require regular use of a computer, phone, network monitoring tools, technical documentation systems, and standard office equipment while reviewing alarms, researching issues, documenting troubleshooting steps, and communicating with users, vendors, and technical stakeholders. The position may require prolonged periods of sitting, viewing computer screens, typing, and concentrating on detailed technical information. The role may also require access to secure or controlled facilities and adherence to established security, network operations, and work-instruction procedures. Compensation Overview The approved pay rate listed for this position is $35.29 per hour .
