We are actively hiring a Senior Field Engineer with TS/SCI clearance and polygraph to join our Mission Technology and Solutions Business Unit, working in Chantilly, VA. Approximately 30-40% CONUS travel will be required for this position. The Senior Field Engineer will deploy, install, and maintain servers, routers, edge switches, telecommunications systems, UPS systems, and desktop PC hardware in support of customer operations. This is a fast-paced program that requires someone who works well in a dynamic environment. The Field Engineer will be responsible for procedural input to the planning, preparation, and execution of all projects. Responsible for the technical direction, leadership, and training of less experienced staff. Must have the ability to complete complex assignments without direction and direct those engineers that are more junior. Ensures that systems are implemented in a tight time frame and within budget. Additional Field Engineer duties shall include but are not limited to the following: Evaluate data centers for the installation of equipment. Install applicable equipment (with racks if needed) Perform onsite testing of equipment and coordinate with other engineers. Install an d connect applicable cables. Coordinate pick-up and delivery of equipment. Troubleshoot network connectivity issues. Add/remove physical connectivity to various networks for users. Perform physical setup and configuration of desktop hardware and software to include external peripherals. Develop solutions to technical issues with hardware and software in multiple areas or disciplines. Build workstations per established procedures. Provide software and hardware support.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field; or if no degree, 8-10 years of related experience performing engineering functions on programs of similar size, scope, and complexity. 8+ years as an engineer supporting technical programs Experience in
IP Related Services:
TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, PPP, and SIP Experience installing and maintaining Cisco routers and switches Experience with commercial PBX and associated telephones, VOIP/data telephony Experience with UPS systems and AC/DC power systems, to include installation/connection Working knowledge of CAT 5 and CAT 6 cable, connectors, and demonstrated capability of fabricating required equipment Experience working with SONET rings and associated hardware Experience using Remedy, VISIO, and MS Office Current TS/SCI with Poly is required.
